just enter the financial institution's name in the "payer's name" section of the 1099-R.

the name doesn't really matter much. what matters is that you get all the numbers and checkboxes exactly correct and answer the interview questions carefully.

Don't try to import it.  Just select to enter it in yourself.

Sorry @samanthalmesser. I misunderstood your question. As @VolvoGirl suggests, if you can't find a match in the bank/financial institutions, then it is likely that Teacher's Retirement does not allow you to import the 1099-R into TT and you will have to manually enter it.

There may not be a bank involved. There is a financial institution but it is usually not a bank.

It should say in the PAYER's info box on the top left. If you are trying to import into TT use whatever they list there and be a little flexible when search TT's list of providers. Or tell us exactly what is in Box 1 (don't need the address) and we'll see if we can find it if you can't. Do NOT give use your name or account number or SSN. This is a public volunteer form.
