When you start entering the 1099R is will ask was this yours, or spouse's.

Thank you, make sure you go completely through the 1099R and finish it with the questions that follow and then do spouses as the person assigned to, should not be changing.

Do you not see the screen I posted (or a similar screen)?      The selection only applies to the current 1099-R and must be selected for each 1099-R entered.  It will always revert to the default (the first taxpayer on the tax return) between 1099-R's.  You can edit the 1099-R to verify which spouse that it was assigned to.

I understand that it reverts to the default after each 1099, but it reverted before I finished the first 1099.

Thanks for the screen shot.  I used it to enter data for my spouse, but it reverted back to me before I finished all of the questions.

How would you know that since it only shows for a new 1099-R or when you edit an existing 1099-R.  When entering the data, the top of the data entry screen shows the spouse that the 1099-R is for.

On one screen it asks - Is this the first year person X began receiving these distributions - and on the next screen is asks - For the years person Y received these distributions was the amount shown the taxable amount.  Both questions should have named person X.

I cannot reproduce that.   I can only suggest deleting the 1099-R's and re-enter.    Sometimes things get hung and the only way to reset is to delete.
