I put 49E under other income exclusions and the number matched exactly what I computed by going to the tax tables for Louisiana. Obviously, this is not how it is supposed to work, guess I will spend another four hours inputting everything into a different software platform.
Also, Turbo Tax did give me several emails stating I earned the "Read 10 Posts" badge, thank heavens for that I feel so important now!
After you enter the 1099-R in the federal section, you will be able to indicate Federal Retirement Benefits (Code 04E). @wakeordiex
I am having the same issue. I did what you outlined and still not getting it to exempt my retired military pay on my Louisiana tax form.
Also, I think by what it says we should be selecting 05E but neither option resolves the problem.
