I figured out in Publication 590-A, which says.
"Treat the contribution as having been made to the second IRA on the date that it was actually made to the first IRA"
So my question below does not stand any more....
Here is my situation.
During 2020 tax return, I did recharacterize Roth to Trad on 2021/3/9 and also converted back to Roth on 2021/3/10, which should be called a backdoor. Since the backdoor was held in 2021, I did not file Roth conversion in 2020 tax return.
During 2021 tax return, I received 1099-R but missed to file and now I'm amending the return.
Once I added the 1099-R in the amendment, form 8606 is showing line 16-18 correctly with amount that got
converted to Roth on 2021/3/10.
Here is my question.
Is the recharacterization made on 2021/3/9 considered to be a nondeductible contribution between Jan 1 2021 through April 18 2021, which I imagine line 4 of 8606 to be filled with the value? However, Turbotax leaves it blank. Is this correct?
