AUDIT SUPPORT

My question is this: is the software making an error when I say I am NOT those job retirees and it (TT) does not deduct properly. THAT is what got me audited. I'm asking if anyone else had this issue and how to prevent it.
Those retiree questions has nothing to do with the issue you have ... in the program you need to enter the info from the 1099-R as written and complete the follow up questions ... if box 2a is blank and 2b is checked then you were supposed to leave box 2a blank in the program ... if you entered in a zero then that is most likely your issue and it is a data entry error on your behalf.
If you purchased Audit Defense for your tax return, call Tax Resources, Inc. at 877-829-9695, or report your notice on their web site at http://intuit.taxaudit.com/. Do not contact the IRS. Let Tax Resources contact them for you.

If you did not purchase Audit Defense:
TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support. At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support". Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter. Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

OK. again, I have not explained this well. I am talking IDAHO state taxes, which I completed on TT Deluxe. I filled out the form, per the 1099R. Then, the ID return asks if this is a 'qualified' pension. I say yes. Then it asks if I was a police officer, fire fighter, Govt employee, I say NO. Turns out that in ID, all other pensions are not considered 'qualified'. It's state code. So, I now owe for each year and I'm trying to ascertain if TT needs to correct the software. I've used them for 10 years (except the one year they raised prices so much).
