If your MAGI is 271,000, it is too high for a Roth IRA contribution. However, simply creating an account does not require any reporting on your tax return.

So if I don't use my contribution this year for 2020 return, will I just use it next year on my 2021 return?

I don't anticipate having a MAGI as high this year when I do 2021 return next year.

Backdoor Roth IRA 2024 - Turbotax is taxing the entire amount of the conversion (which is incorrect - the conversion amount is the same amount as the basis from the non-deductible IRA that I am converting to Roth.
