Can't find 1099 form from last year. what do I do?

There are many types of 1099 forms. The most common are:

  • 1099-MISC - you can contact the contractor and request a new copy.
  • 1099-R - This is for retirement withdrawals, and you can contact the company
  • SSA-1099 - you can look this up online
  • 1099-Div or 1099 INT - contact the Bank or Broker
  • 1099-B - is stock transactions, contact your Broker

As you can see from all of these you should go back to the source.  Contact the person or company that issued it.  Many times these forms are online.
