Social Security mails out SSA1099's in January.  If you did not receive yours or if you have misplaced it, there is a way to go on the Social Security website and request one.  Go to www.ssa.gov  You have to create an account with a user name and password.

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

No.  You'll need your social security information to complete your tax return.  If you did not receive your form or cannot locate it, contact your local Social Security Administration office or go online here to obtain a new copy.  Once you have the information you can enter it in the "Wages & Income" section in TurboTax.  Follow the steps below for your product type.

You can navigate to any section using the left hand menu in online products.

  1. Under the "Federal" section click "Wages & Income"
  2. Next in the main window scroll down to "Retirement Plans and Social Security"
  3. Click the dropdown "carrot" on the right hand side
  4. There you will find the "Social Security" topic

For desktop (CD/Download) products use the tabs at the top of the page.

  1. Click "Federal Taxes"
  2. "Wages & Income"
  3. In the main window "I'll choose what I work on"
  4. Scroll down to "Retirement Plans and Social Security"
  5. "Start" the "Social Security" topic
