Can I add 1099 forms from 2020-2023 on this return? I was new to stocks and never filed from the money I made from it.

I invested into stocks starting in 2020 until 2023 and never filed them. How can I go forth with filing? I have the 1099’s for each year.

No you cannot add tax documents from past years to your 2023 return.  If they were supposed to be included on a tax return you will have to amend the tax years for the corresponding tax years.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-a...

You can't report all your stock trades from 2020 to 2023 on your 2023 tax return.

Each tax year has to be dealt with separately.

Your 2023 stock trades will be reported on your 2023 return.

For prior years, you have to amend each year's tax return to add the stock trades of that year.

Please follow the instructions in this TurboTax Help article to prepare your tax returns for 2020, 2021 and 2022.

You can enter your form 1099-B by following these steps:

  1. In TurboTax, open your tax return
  2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages & Income
  3. Scroll down to locate the section Investment Income and click on the arrow on the right
  4. Click Start next to Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
  5. When entering your form 1099-B, on the entry screen, if needed check the box  I have more info to enter that I don’t see here and more boxes will appear so you can enter the taxes withheld.
