In 2018 I received a portion of my Mother's IRA as an inheritance after her passing early the same year. At the time of her passing, she had not taken her RMD, and I was told I would need to take it. I did so, but the transaction was initiated in late December 2018, and the Settlement Date was not until January 2, 2019. As a result, I was not given a 2018 Form 1099 for processing the RMD. In order to submit the RMD data in my 2018 tax return, I included a substitute Form 4852 in my 2018 Federal Return to show that the RMD transaction had been initiated in 2018, with the relevant Distribution amount and the Federal Income Tax withheld. Now, for the 2019 tax year, I have received a Form 1099 from my financial institution that combines RMD Distribution and Federal Tax Withholding amounts into a single 1099 for both the 2018 RMD that settled on Jan. 2, 2019, and the RMD that I took in November 2019. Since I've already addressed the 2018 RMD in my 2018 tax return, what do I do now to correct the 1099 I currently have in hand to address only the RMD taken in 2019?
