1099Rs

1099-R's are retirement income and do not go in the wage sectiion.

Enter a 1099-R here:

Federal Taxes,
Wages & Income
(I'll choose what I work on - if that screen comes up)
Retirement Plans & Social Security,
IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R).

OR  Use the "Tools" menu (if online version left side) and then "Search Topics" for "1099-R" which will take you to the same place.

Be sure to choose which spouse the 1099-R is for if this is a joint tax return.
Be sure to pick the correct 1099-R type: Standard 1099-R, CSA-1099-R, CSF-1099-R, RRB-1099-R.

[NOTE: When you get to the "Your 1099-R Entries" screen where you can add another 1099-R, use "continue" to keep going as there are additional interview questions after that screen in most cases. You can always return as shown above.]

1099Rs

It does capture under the wage & Income section.  I selected 1099R for CSA  and 1099R for military.  it just will not populate the column.

1099Rs

What "column"?     What are you looking at?

Yes I followed the questions to the section RA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) and when I finish I doesn't post the income.  for example:

         2019              2020

           $$$               needs review

1099Rs

Sounds like you have not entered all the information.

Try deleting and re-enter the 1099-R.

The program is telling you to review that section ... there is something left undone.  Or you can click on the Federal Review tab and see what is missing.

1099Rs

macuser,  I’ve deleted several times and re-entered.  Because it’s a government annuity it’s something with taxable and gross distribution.  I think.

Is this a CSA 1099-R?  Is there an amount in box 9b?

Does the TurboTax Federal review tab complain about box 5 insurance?    That appears to be a bug.

1099Rs

Yes, this is a CSA 1099R.  There is an amount in 9b. Box 5 says none.

1099Rs

I have seen some other poses that sy that the review says it is a box 5 insurance that was not complete, but I have not been able to reproduce the problem myself.

I can only suggest calling customer support during normal business hours.

There is no single published number because it changes contently depending on the nature of the call and agent availability. Following the link below will either give a current number for you to call or take your number for a callback.

(Note that phone support is for paying customers only. There is no phone support for Free Customers.)

Here is a TurboTax FAQ for contacting customer support.

Found the problem.  Unbelievable what it was.

Please don't leave us in suspense, what was it?

1099Rs

There were four other questions leading to this concerning taxable income.

This was my stumper question;

Where is your distribution from?

1. Money fm the Teachers Retirement system of GA

2. Money from any fund , program or system which is exempted by Federal Law or Treaty

or

3. None of the above

I had selected None of the above. Because this is Federal Pay and I elected not to have any state taxes taken out.

The answer was #2 money from any fund, program or system.....

1099Rs

Thank you - then your problem seems to be a GA specific state tax issue and not a general Federal tax issue.
