1099-R

After I enter 1099-R for my Roth IRA conversion, it recognizes that I don't have to pay extra tax because I did a immediate conversion without any capital gain from non-deductible traditional IRA. My Federal tax due stayed the same, but my MA state tax due went up, why?

Please make sure that you have entered your contributions previously taxed by Massachusetts and distributions received in prior years on the  "Taxable IRA/Keogh Distributions" screen during the state interview.

Massachusetts doesn't allow the deduction of contribution to the traditional IRA like the IRS does on the federal return. Therefore, you will need to enter your total traditional IRA contributions and any distributions you took on the "Taxable IRA/Keogh Distributions" screen.
