Hi folks, I'm a head of household filer. Single dad. Wanted some input on this: I received a $2,400 "stimulus" payment instead of the legislation's stated $1,200 (+$500 for dependent, e.g. my daughter) for HoH filers. Should I be expecting a nasty-gram from the IRS come tax season 2021? Or was there an amendment to the bill which dictated these payments differently than was widely reported? Feel free to contribute if you're in the same boat.

Did you file a Joint return for 2018? It could have been based on a 2018 return if they didn't have your 2019 return yet.
I've filed as HoH for the last 4 years, so there was no way for them to base the disbursement on that.
