What do I enter for "location" on rent or royalty 1099misc income when the income is from an inherited intellectual copyright?

This income came from copyrighted music of a deceased composer.

What do I enter for "location" on rent or royalty 1099misc income when the income is from an inherited intellectual copyright?

In your case it would be investment income since you did not create the music that generates the royalties, therefore, it is not Schedule C self-employment Income.

You'll be prompted to set up your royalty property in the Rents and Royalties section or the Business Income and Expenses section, depending on which classification it falls into.
