It is used in addition to Schedule D.  If there are transactions on it, you don't want to delete it.  But not all Schedule D transactions come from that worksheet.  If you need to remove an empty worksheet, follow these instructions:

The general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open your return in TurboTax. (To do this, sign in to TurboTax, and select Take me to my return.)
  2. In the left-side menu, select Tax Tools Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the onscreen instructions.

Thank you for the answer because it addresses the issue I need to resolve. However it appears that the Turbo Tax Premium CD version does not have the "Tax Tools > Tools", "pop-up window Tool Center", or "Delete a form" capability that the Turbo Tax Online version has or maybe I can not locate this topic.

You can delete forms in the desktop, just not the same way as in Online.  If you need to delete it in the desktop version....click FORMS in the upper right, scroll down  and find the form, click on it and you should see a ''delete form'' button at the bottom.  Let me know if you can't find it  and I will post a screen shot.
