TT Win removed QBI

Last week TT gave me QBI deduction on my rental property - Sch. E.  Today, I opened my tax return (after running updates) and now the QBI deduction is gone.  I went back through forms and made sure the box for "yes, I qualify for QBI" was checked, but TT still won't give me the deduction back.

I've gone through the forms again and answered TT's questions again, but I can't get the QBI deduction back on my return.  Why?

QBI for Rental Activities is only available if the Activities qualify as a trade or business, rather than as passive activities.

For most individuals, this means they need to qualify as a real estate professional.

Here is a Help Article that explains more details:  QBI Deduction for Rentals?

If you qualify per the above article as a real estate professional, please go back through all of the questions once more.  If you still have the same issue, please contact Customer Service so someone can look at it with you.

But your answer doesn't answer the problem here. TurboTax gave that deduction (to me as well) and then the update removed it. So the software was at fault?

At this point you may wish to contact a specialist that can work through that section of the return with you. The specialists can look at your return on their screen to find out exactly what is causing this issue and suggest how you can take corrective action if needed. They can also look at your forms to see why you do not qualify for the deduction.
