If you can not get your depreciation to flow through from previous years you may have to enter it manually.
You will need a Depreciation Schedule in order to enter all information from prior years and match the methods, etc. You can find this information for previous years by going to the forms mode in TT 2019 and click on Schedule E Asset Wks (rental property name). Forms mode is in the upper right location of your page.
With previous years information go to Review Your (rental property name), click on Assets/Depreciation Update and follow the prompts to enter your depreciation.
Here is a guide for how to go about entering it into TurboTax in order to duplicate the entries.
That’s ridiculous. It’s pulled the depreciation in every year since 2014. With no issues on the online version. This year. Should be no different.
As noted, this is a known issue. Please see this TurboTax Help page and sign up to be notified when it has been addressed.
I got an email indicating the issue was resolved. But nowhere do I see if turbotax online needs to be cleared, for the "fix" to be carried over. I logged into my ongoing 2020 return and depreciation and assets from previous years has not carried over. Anybody?
TurboTax has published a page describing the work around for this issue. Please see this TurboTax webpage.
The workaround is not a fix and is absolutely ridiculous that they expect their customers to do this.
Why was the info not transferred over in the first place and why was that not fixed. I might as well do my taxes manually. Those instructions for the workaround is a book. A **bleep**ing joke by intuit
I agree. This happened last year. It will take me hours to deal with this. Turbotax is supposed to save us time not make us enter the same information over and over again.
With the desktop version, the depreciation section isn't complete yet. I would expect that to be true for the online version too. So things may not work right until the IRS finalizes the forms, releases the electronic version of those forms to programmers, and the programmers update the program.
