Sorry, but I can't help with state taxes since I've never had to deal with state taxes. It may help (or may not) if you clear the state return and then when you start the state return anew, it may re-import the needed data from the federal side. I don't know if that wlll work, help, or not.

@Carl , Thank you for your advice! I removed the state and started new.

As a result, the NY state still calculated the depreciation based on the new Cost value, and did not pull the history from the Federal, so the smart check still triggered an error .
