Non Arizona Municipal bonds Payee And Amounts

When doing my Arizona state taxes my no-municipal bond amounts are listed with each amount and the payee as Merrill for each bond, even the bonds are from different states. In the federal tax I entered each state and the amount of interest. Why did the name of each state and its amount not get transferred to the AZ state form? The payee listed should be each state where the interest was earned and not Merrill.  Tnx for the help.

Depending upon your situation, the description will not pull in the state name, but will pull the name of the issuer of the 1099 through.  This is why you see Merrill for the brokerage who issues the 1099 as opposed to the state name.

Your entry should be in the federal interview section.  You mentioned you broke out the state input here.  It should have looked similar to the screen below.

Next when you go through the state interview questions, you may also need to make an adjustment to confirm the correct amount pulls through.

I appreciate the reply! So that explains the reason Merrill is displayed in the state taxes, however the actual states need to be displayed. Also the amounts in the state taxes do not match the amounts displayed in the federal taxes. (My screen in my federal taxes did match the one you displayed in your reply). These issues drive me crazy figuring out what to do! After using TTax since 1983 I am done head-banging on issues like this and am giving up using TurboTax! TTax needs to invest more time in providing help in their state tax program.  You are left to fend for yourself in the state program. I have an appointment with a tax preparer tomorrow.
