Lost license code for 2020 desktop Premier that needs to be amended

So I forgot to file an RMD last year  so I need to amend 2020 tax return.  I always use Turbo Tax Premier for Desktop. I still have the discs going back to 2016 but can't find the codes.

To make matters worse I didn't save as a PDF and my computer crashed dead. {I did save 2019 as a PDF} When I had my data rescued onto a drive my old taxes are on the drive but can only be opened and read with a Turbo Tax Premier for Desktop license code  which I probably threw after filing last April.  

I purchased the Desktop Premier today but it won't open and read my 2020 return

Seems like the only way is order a copy from the IRS. Can Turbo tax give me a 2020 code to open my taxes? Or if I start my return will Turbo tax automatically supply last years import?

TT online for 2021 will not have your 2020 that prepared using the desktop software. Sorry.

I would suggest you contact TT customer support. See

If you bought through TT then I bet they can help you. Not sure otherwise. But I would push on them. It would probably help if you have the purchase receipt.

if you buy the download then your activation code is always in your amazon or TT account. 

BTW, most of us here like the download version much better than the online version. But as you discovered you are on your own for backups of the data, software, and activation codes.
