Long Term Capital Gains Carryover from 2018 to 2019 tax return?

I am using TurboTax home and business for my 2019 return. From my Turbo Tax home and Business 2018 software it carried forward a Net Long Term Capital Gain of $19,446. This is a gain not a loss.

I already paid taxes on the $19,446 in 2018, correct? Why is TurboTax carry forward a positive gain? Should this carry forward be a $0? According to other blogs gains are not carried forward.

I do have a Net Short-Term Capital Loss of $-29,13 from 2018 that is now plugged into my 2019 return. I do understand that if it a loss, that does get carried forward, but can only take $3,000 loss per year till it is used up. Am I missing something?

So what do i do here for my 2019 return? when the numbers were automatically plugged in from the 2018 TT

Long term gains are NOT carried forward.  Are you sure you are reading the form correctly? are you sure that inn 2018 that wasn't a loss???????

Long Term Capital Gains Carryover from 2018 to 2019 tax return?

Thanks for the help! My short term loss for 2018 that was carried forward to the 2019 box was $-29,131.

Also, when i go back to my 2018 return on TT.  The Capital Loss Carry Forward Worksheet 2018 to 2019,  my Short-term capital loss carryforward to 2019 is $-6685 not $-29,131  under regular tax.

My Long-term capital loss carryforward to 2019 is at $0 under regular tax not $19,446.

So why is TT doing this?

Long Term Capital Gains Carryover from 2018 to 2019 tax return?

not sure I am following...

question 1: on your 2018 tax return, please look at the "Capital Loss Carryover Worksheet". In the regular tax column, what is on lines 8 and 13?  THAT is what is carried over to 2019.

question 2: Then on the 2019 tax form Schedule D, what is on lines 6 and 14?

question 3: what form and on what line are you seeing zero and not $19446?

please respond and based on your responses, we can move this forward.
