If your employer did not withhold taxes, you will enter your earnings as self-employment income on Schedule C. You may deduct ordinary and necessary expenses against the earnings. See this TurboTax Help.
In TurboTax Premier Online, follow these directions.
- Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
- Down the left side of the screen, click Wages & Income.
- Click on the down arrow to the right of Self-employment.
- Click to the right of Self-employment income and expenses.
The free rent likely is not income taxable to you.
IRS Publication 525, Taxable and Nontaxable Income, page 8, states:
You don't include in your income the value of meals and lodging provided to you and your family by your employer at no charge if the following conditions are met.
The meals are:
- Furnished on the business premises of your employer, and
- Furnished for the convenience of your employer.
The lodging is:
- Furnished on the business premises of your employer,
- Furnished for the convenience of your employer, and
- A condition of your employment. (You must accept it in order to be able to properly perform your duties.)
