Probably not. There generally isn't a deduction for home improvements made to your personal residence, although you might qualify for an energy credit if the bathroom renovation included the installation of energy efficient windows or skylights or an energy-efficient water heater. Home improvements may come into play when you sell your home because they're included in your home's adjusted cost basis. Please see the FAQs below for more information.
You can’t claim a tax credit for a standard $9,419 bathroom renovation unless it included energy-efficient upgrades (like a heat pump, insulation, or ENERGY STAR water heater). Only those parts may qualify under the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit. Regular cosmetic upgrades don’t count. Check receipts and use IRS Form 5695 if eligible.
