Can I claim Federal tax credit $7500 for Chevy Volt that I leased in 2016 from the dealership? Should I treat California tax rebate $1500 as an income? where to report ?

I leased this vehicle for personal uses with an option to buy at the end of lease term. I am the original new registration. Thank you

No, you cannot, unfortunately - because you are leasing it. It does not matter if you have an option to buy upon lease expiration. You must buy the car to qualify for the credit.

While the Chevy Volt qualifies as an electric car for tax credit purposes, it must be purchased. Since you are leasing a vehicle, the credit "stays' with the leasing company.
