After posting my 1099-DIV for a tax free bond fund and entering exempt interest dividends in boxes 11 and 12, Turbotax continues to show this entry "needs review".

I have tried to import direct from the mutual fund company and also completed it manually to no avail.

If you first imported it, please be sure you delete that and then enter it manually.

Sign into your account and go into the return

Open the “Tax Tools” drop-down on the left side bar

Click on “Tools” on that drop-down

Click Delete a form (the third one down) on the “Tools Center” screen

Scroll down and click “Delete” next to Form 1099-DIV

Thanks Kris.

I followed you instructions but could not find the 1099-DIV in question on that list.  Some of my other 1099-DIVs were there, but not that one.

I was able to formally sign out of the program. Maybe it will work if sign back in and try again.  Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same thing happen to me. The issue in my case was, a couple fields had a value of $0.00. TurboTax chokes on this -- both when importing from my financial institution and entering manually.

Deleting the $0.00 entries and leaving those fields blank cleared the "Needs Review" status. Hope this helps you! I spent an hour and a half trying to figure this out. 🤬
