Hello, I filed my tax return in 2021 on Intuit TurboTax. I never received any of my refund and I received a letter from the IRS that I was supposed to receive more money and NEVER received any refund from 2021.

I look at the tax return papers from 2021 and my bank account is incorrect. The IRS stated that if the account was wrong that it WOULD NEVER have gone through, and it would have returned back to Turbo Tax.

I thought this was a company that I could trust! Since I NEVER received my money in 2021 that I'm starting to wonder if I want to file my 2022 tax returns with Turbo Tax!

So, my question is WHERE IS MY MONEY and when will I RECEIVE it?

Thank You

Deanne B

TurboTax does not receive any kind of tax refund, federal or state.

If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.

For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

Where do I enter info from 2022 Consolidated Forms 1099?

That will have sections for 1099-Int and 1099-Div and 1099B. You need to enter each section in the right place. So read it carefully and look for headings.... 1099-INT for interest or 1099-DIV for Dividends or 1099B for sales.

I have a question about the special Indiana tax refund in 2022. Two refunds of $125 and $100 were sent to most people as a result of COVID. The is not related to the regular tax refund calculated by tax returns. I have no record of receiving this. If I did receive it in 2022 it must be declared on the 2022 tax return. If not and I can still get it ti will of course be declared on next my 2023 return next year. How can i find out? I cannot contact the In. Dept. Of Revenue. Everything is now automated and there is no system to answer questions about the special refund and no way to talk to a human being.

The state of Indiana has a webpage with answers and information about the Automatic Taxpayer Refunds (ATR). It is not taxable on the federal return.

If you were eligible for the ATRs you can claim them on your 2022 return.

The state explains that they do not answer the questions over the phone about this, but you can contact them at the link below about sending a secure message using INTIME, or make an appointment at a DOR office near you using the links below to find an office.

  • To help keep our phone lines open for taxpayers who need assistance with non-ATR issues and help us minimize wait times, send DOR a secure message using INTIME, the agency’s e-services portal. DOR will review your eligibility, contact you for any additional information, and process a refund request as needed.

You may also contact DOR Customer Service at 317-232-2240, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. ET.

You can also make an appointment at one of DOR’s district offices for in-person assistance. Refer to information on our website for location information and hours of operation.

In 2022 I received social Security benefits totalling $3,064.  But I discontinued my benefits after a family leave stint.  On 3/31/23 I mailed a check to social security for the full amount.  Is there any way I can enter this information on my return?

You may claim a right of repayment for an amount over $3000 as an itemized deduction or as a credit. Since you repaid this in 2023, you will need to claim this in next year's return.

I was charged $245 dollars for my service.  My taxes were rejected.  I want a refund.  Why was a charged so much?

@komprezer You can either fix a rejected tax return and re-file it, or you can print and mail it.  The fees will be the same whether you e-file successfully or file by mail.  The fee for using online TurboTax is not for e-filing; it is for using the software.  They will not give you a refund because the e-file was rejected.

You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.

Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed.  Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead. What is the rejection code or rejection message?

If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2021 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2021 AGI might not be in the IRS system.   Try using zero instead.

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
