Question

Social Security Input error. Product will not accept input.

In trying to input my Social Security benefits, the program will not accept any input.  I have checked my information and everything is correct as far as I can see.  Last years benefit was all imported correctly but this years section will not let me input the information.  All other income was input as usual.

I was able to go to the Forms and enter the info directly into the tax form.  I was able to get back to the easy input by hitting the Ezy input button.  Im not sure that was the name, but it was similar.  When I got back to the regular form and it went to the screen with everything I'd entered with the Start or Update buttons beside each section I realized that I had been using the Start button to go to the next section instead of the Next button at the bottom of the page.  I've been using the Next button instead of the Start button and have had no other problems since.

I'm having problems with the Social Security page freezing up on TurboTax Premier Desktop using Mac OS 12.7.4.  Every time I navigate to that page the formatting looks odd and it freezes and won't allow input or further navigation.  I'm stuck.  Everything up to that point has worked well.

I have an exactly same problem.  When I click the update social security button, the screen briefly becomes blank and then reappears the page of the different type of incomes to choose from.

2024 deluxe desktop version will not allow SS update - just goes in an infinite loop.

I have not encountered any difficulty entering or updating Social Security income in 2024 Deluxe or Home and Business. Are you entering the income using Step by Step?

Or, are you trying to update a Social Security number? Please clarify what steps you have taken that led to the problem.

See this TurboTax help article for additional information.

I am using the 2024 Deluxe desktop version step by step. It still goes in an infinite loop.

experiencing same problem. Step-by-step just didn't ask any questions relating to SS benefits. Trying to manually update under the "Investment Income" section has no results and screen returns to previous display.

Can you clarify? What version of TurboTax are you using? Is it for Mac or PC?  You said you are trying to update in the Investment Income section, but did you mean the  section titled "Retirement Plans and Social Security"?
