Import won’t work on Win 11 desktop version. Recaptcha tries to open, but it has “Error:For site owner…” message with no check box. Does this with multiple financial institutions.

I have same problem with importing documents from Vanguard.  Desktop version. message;  Error for site owner.  Invalid site key.  Gotcha etc.  We have all of our 1099 documents from 2024 tax year from Vanguard, and none of those documents could be imported on Turbo Tax premium.   Yes, I have Windows 11.

Intuit service team tried to help me today 1/30/25 to no avail.  Regards Beat2

I turned off my VPN and it worked!

In this time of frighteningly radical changes in the US, it's reassuring that Turbotax continues its long-standing tradition of releasing software that doesn't work the first time.

They released a new Mac version today (2024.r16.018). Still has the same issues.

Windows 11, TT desktop version still has the recaptcha issue with Vanguard as of Jan 31, 1:00 PST. I have updated and applied all Windows and TT updates.

    Please fix the issue!!!

Turning off VPN allowed the downloads to work. Sigh.

The VPN is Norton / Intuit's own VPN, so they should know about this. Sigh.

The download was also failing Saturday, 2/1/25, on my M3 iMac (Sequoia 15.2) running Bitdefender VPN as well as Bitdefender anti virus.  I took down the VPN and killed the antivirus.  Download worked.

Today (2/3) with VPN and antivirus up and running the download worked perfectly.  It would appear TT did some work over the weekend.

Still having Captcha error after a week of trying all solutions listed here.  I have the desktop Home and Business and have used Windows 10, WIndows 11, different PC's, turned off ad blocker, firewall, virusprotection, even used Verizon hotspot instead of home router WIFI.  Spent an hour on the phone with support with no additional a solutions.  The tech assigned an investigation number and said I would receive email updates.  He also said that it appears the issue has not risen to the level that they would devote enough resouces to resolve quickly.  Also stated that the more complaints and investigations started as the tax season got going would elevate the issue.  He was aware of the issue as he had received the same complaint from others.

I spend almost 2 hours on the phone with tech support and we tried everything suggested on this page. (I have updated the TT, checked the computer, don't use VPN, have Windows 11.)The young lady was very surprised that a tech person for TT had not responded in the community page. I've used TT for years with no importing issues, and can not/will not manually import everything from my financial institutions. Everyone affected needs to call next Tuesday after the long holiday weekend when all the financial institution info should be available and make our displeasure known. [phone number removed]. Be persistent and insistent!!

I uninstalled the McAfee Security Plus and I was able to import our information! (I also had TT website and the financial institution website on my laptop as someone had suggested.)

Still encountering the problem with Vanguard Borkerage on Sunday morning, 2/2.  Please let me know when it's fixed as I purchase TT solely because of it's ability to import my tax info from Vanguard.

For those with Eero routers.  turning off advanced security and add blocking was all that I needed to do to fix the issue.

After a week of everything failing to get past the Captcha when trying to import from Vanguard, I started Windows 11 in safe mode with networking, then was able to import from Vanguard.

I had the same problem. I got it to fix. Don't know if this will help, but here's how it fixed for me:

I was using duck duck go browser. I am running windows 11. I switched the default browser to edge (it had been duck duck go), then I rebooted my computer. It updated a lot of files during reboot. Then I opened turbotax and imported vanguard tax docs again and it worked.

p.s. rethinking turbotax next year. They were slow to fix or anticipate conflict.

I am having this same issue; I tried importing from several different brokerages, with the same problem across the board. I am using Win10, no VPN, Google Chrome as default browser everything running on latest version. I use standard Windows Security, also with the latest updates. I do not have any other issues with internet or captchas on any other site, except when trying to import in TT Desktop. WTF?!??? Intuit needs to fix this ASAP!!!!!!!!

p.S.: I did have my router set to AdGuard DNS, but switching that setting to auto-DNS did not make any difference, so that cannot be the underlying issue. My router/modem is a Zyxel C3510XZ, in case that matters (which I highly doubt).

Same problem for me since the weekend. Talked to 3 different people at TT and no help.  Tried everything noted in the community comments. Re-installed the software 2x. No VPN.  Finally loaded onto a laptop running same Windows !! and security software.  Financial companies open for access, the import function worked perfectly.  Still waiting on 1.  Never had this kind of issues in previous versions of TT.

When I called Turbo Tax about this problem they said that it occurs with the downloaded desktop version.  I told them that I wanted a CD but they weren't offering one any more.  They said a workaround was to download the 1099 as a TXF document and then import it.  They also said I can chose whether to download as a PDF or TXF.  My PC Win 11 offers no such option.  I'm stuck  with a PDF format.

I then pointed out that TurboTax makes a point of saying that they will import the 1009s so we don't have to do anything but connect with the brokerage.  Nonsense!  They need to get this fixed or I'll look for a different software package next year.

Same here.  So far the import feature is working on my desktop version on my laptop running the same version of Windows 11 and security software.  I have one more to download when it's available.  If it works, I will save the file and move it back to my desktop and finish and take it as a win.  A lot of extra work this year.  No 5 *'s.

Same problem with multiple institutions whose tax forms are readily downloadable. Needs to be fixed quickly as it is a huge waste of time.

I don't have a VPN.  For me what fixed the issue (temporarily) was disabling intrusion detection on my router.  Once I imported all the forms I re-enabled intrusion detection on my router.
