Fed & State e-File Rejected (xml data failed schema validation)

I've tried to eFile twice and both times it's been rejected. TurboTax tells me "The XML data has failed schema validation. This return was not e-filed due to a timing issue or a processing error that has been corrected. No changes are needed ... it just needs to be e-filed again. If the reject continues you may need to print and file this return by mail."

This is really annoying. Anyway to fix it?

This has been happening since Sunday morning. My Support ticket was closed by TurboTax and I was charged the full cost of the software.

has *anyone* who got this error managed to successfully submit? support swore up and down to me this would be fixed today and yet it continues. the radio silence from turbotax after dropping $170 on their service is really troubling....

I think the root cause of the problem is described here (shortened the link) :

Long story short: if you have an 1099-DIV with a quantity greater than zero (0.00) for box 5a, it is prompting TurboTax to introduce a QBI (Qualified Business Income) deduction automatically. This in turn, creates a company name of "n/a" for said deduction. See below:

That forward slash (/) is very problematic when dealing with XML (computer file format) which is what the IRS expects. That character is throwing it off kilter and making it being rejected. This QBI thing is not optional. TurboTax just sees the value on the 1099-DIV 5a and gives no choice but to include it (with the said bad name of n/a).

FWIW, '/' is a perfectly valid XML character and should not trip up any XML parser. Only handful of entities require escaping and '/' isn't one of them. IRS OTOH might be running 1970's COBOL code so they may not have a real XML parser which is a separate issue. Regardless, I'm paying $275 for TT. TT should make sure your product works well with the IRS' electronic systems. Telling the user to print and mail their tax returns after paying $275 for it is a complete utter failure. Get better engineers and product managers. Next year I am using a real CPA.

We purchase this product to make filing easy.  Why should we have to print copy and mail?  Is there some one with your company who can get to the bottom of the problem and provide solutions?  I have had submission problems for two  of the last three years.  Maybe its time to try another product.

It's been two weeks since I posted this. Several days ago I rcvd notification that my Federal Return was accepted. The State Return is still listed as pending. "It takes 24 to 48 hours to process e-filed returns. In this time, returns are in a pending status. Come back in about 24 hours or check your email. We'll let you know as soon as your return is accepted." It's been longer than 48 hours. I'm worried about mailing it in and essentially filing twice, if they ever accept the first one.

Both federal and Arizona were accepted finally.  I changed nothing,  it took a couple of days for the federal to be accepted  and Another couple for Arizona.  It must have been a glitch in the system for a few days somewhere.
