Arizonans can Itemize their State taxes without having to Itemize on the Federal side.  And we can deduct medical expenses, without having to reduce it by a percentage like on the Federal side.   So in 2024 I did Itemize my Arizona state return and included the $168 as medical expenses.  Then in 2025 the physical therapy company credited my cc back $168.  I need to somehow show this on my Arizona return, don’t I?  For AZ, a Federal Schedule A is prepared (even though I’m not itemizing Federally) and it does flow through to my Arizona Form 140, Schedule A.   I don’t want to add this as Misc. Income on my Federal return as it reduces my refund, but I DO think I need to show it as income on my State return, because I itemized last year and included my medical.   Where in TT can I do this on my Arizona return?   Thanks so much for any help.   @DaveF1006

Look for the box with the EIN/FEIN and a format XX-XXXXXXX.  This is the number you will need to enter in this section of Turbotax.   Alternately, you can call the provider and ask for or if it's a common company someone here may have it.  While there are some areas of TurboTax where this number is not required, the 1099R does require it.     @1mvirginia

If you filed with TurboTax, to get back to your 2024 return, you can try our self-serve account recovery process. If you didn't file with TurboTax and you have a copy of your return, you can find your AGI on Form 1040 on Line 11.   You can also order a free digital transcript of your return from the IRS. You can view your online transcript immediately, while a mailed transcript takes 5–10 days to receive.   Once you get your last year's AGI, to enter it on the return:   Open your return Select the File tab Continue until you reach the screen that says To continue, select options below Enter your corrected AGI in Enter last year's AGI here Select Continue and follow the screens until you've re-transmitted your return Request to access your TurboTax Account How do I find last year's AGI?

Hello,   A portion of my HSA contributions come from a monthly insurance premium pass through. Apparently, there was an extra bonus contribution in 2025 for opening a new HSA but I was not able to get information regarding this contribution until it was too late to adjust me own to make up for it. As a result, I ended up going over for the year in my total contributions. However, this does not show up in my W-2 since it did not come from my payroll deductions. It is only visible through bank documents. I submitted a form to withdraw the excess amount (plus calculated earnings) and received the distribution in March 2026 but apparently I will NOT receive an 1099-SA until early 2027 since the distribution occurred in 2026. I am getting conflicting information on what (if anything) I need to report on my 2025 taxes and how. Because it doesn't show up on the W-2, I am not getting prompted about excess contributions. In the questionnaire there is a 'overfunded their HSA last year' option which appears to pertain to 2024 so not relevant. There is also a 'other company contributions that weren't reported to their W-2' which seems promising but the live advisor I spoke with swears I do not need to do anything and should just wait until I do 2026 taxes. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do?
They had code R as the distributions were recharacterizations that went directly into traditional IRA accounts.
I donated my car to a charity, and they sold it. I received an email telling me exactly how much it sold for. What valuation method do I use?

It says on page 2 of Form 502 "Subtract Line 17b and Line 17c from Line 17a and enter amount on Line 17", so that's correct.    The instructions also state: You are not required to itemize deductions on your Maryland return because you have itemized deductions on your federal return. Figure your tax each way to determine which method is best for you. So it's possible TurboTax is pulling in your state standard deduction ($3,350/$6,700) (see here in the MD 502 Booklet), if it is higher than your phased-out state itemized.    Can you share your numbers here so I can get a visual idea of how the math is working/not working? This will help with troubleshooting.   Note: You can look at this page of the 2025 Maryland 502 booklet for the line 17c phaseout calculation worksheet.

Whatever you do, do NOT pay.   Military (active duty and reservists) can get free TurboTax online preparation product and filing IF you meet all the conditions.  If you do, then you can use any edition of Online TurboTax (Free, Deluxe, or Premium) for a free Federal return and free state return.  But add-ons like Expert Assist, PLUS upgrade, MAX, etc. are not eligible.   https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/military-edition.jsp   The free Military Discount is for E1-E9 active duty and reservists and excludes National Guard.  You have to have a W-2 from DFAS. Be sure to answer all the military questions in the MY INFO section. After you enter your W-2 and move forward,  you'll likely get a screen to again select that the W-2 was for active duty.   The discount is not applied until you are ready to file.  If it still tries to charge you at the end, do NOT pay.  You would need to resolve that issue first.   If it continues to show you are being charged, here's how to phone TurboTax Support.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/ Hours 5AM-9PM Pacific, 7 days/week

The form may need to be filed if a child has more than $2,700 in unearned income for 2025, regardless of whether the parent is reporting unearned income.   IRS Form 8615, "Tax for Certain Children Who Have Unearned Income," is used to calculate the "kiddie tax" for children with more than $2,700 (for 2025) in unearned income, such as interest, dividends, or capital gains.
