Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

@cou3 It shouldn't be an issue. Did you try entering the amount in box 1 into box 16? It won't affect anything else on your federal or state tax return. Never heard anyone say that box 16 has to be greater than box 1. It probably says box 16 has to be greater than box 14 withholding.

I filed my taxes through TurboTax and wasn't sure if I needed to submit payment to the IRS myself. I wasn't able to get in touch with my tax expert which I had paid for after filing my taxes, and the only options or notice of payment was to go to the IRS directly to file. A few days after I submit a direct payment, I get a notification that a duplicate payment has been submitted from my bank and that it was an e-filing. I received zero communications from TurboTax about them sending out payments and wasn't able to reach support in a timely manner about the issue. This is absolutely horrible customer service and I'm extremely disappointed in the way they're operating.

Since you had posted this three days ago before Tax Day, you could have contributed to the Traditional IRA, submitted Form 4868 and had the custodian remove the SEP contribution as an excess contribution. As it is, the window for a Traditional IRA contribution is now closed. Just another reason not to wait till the last days to file. @KD9

I’ve used TurboTax for four years, but the increasing costs—climbing to over $140 this year—are becoming hard to justify. My biggest issue, however, was the 'fast return' option. It wasn't made clear that this service carries a $35 processing fee just to receive a refund six days early. Had this been transparent, I never would have opted in. I am deeply disappointed by these hidden charges. Unless I am credited the $35 toward next year, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

@DoninGA , how this question is handled matters. Broader cultural and political shifts can influence what is considered “acceptable” in these situations. For example, the software I switched to defaults to “No,” provides context about the likelihood of the answer, and allows users to revise it. In contrast, my experience -and reports from others- suggest that TurboTax may have made this question mandatory for some users (e.g., naturalized individuals) while not asking it of others. If accurate, that raises serious concerns about unequal treatment based on characteristics such as background or ethnicity. I attempted to get clarification from TurboTax, but they did not respond to my questions nor follow up as promised. At a minimum, this points to a lack of transparency on an issue that deserves clear and consistent handling.

A phone number is not required to file a tax return. However, the TurboTax program makes it required.
You can enter any phone number you wish as long as it has a US area code.

Well, I'm very happy to say that, as a result of either this post or the similar email I sent to support when the refund was denied, Intuit support reached out to me, and after clarifying the situation and gathering some documentation from me, agreed to refund the entire $203 for the Online program. I don't think it should have been so hard, but I'm grateful to Elsa and the others on that team who recognized the mistakes made and took steps to rectify them.

I am sorry for the loss of your father. If the property was transferred to you and your three sisters outright (your mother and father were not on title) over 15 years ago, then you really don't have much of an argument for a life estate, expressed or implied. Further, your mother was alive on the date of the sale and still is alive to date. As a result, you will likely have to use your parents' cost basis (in 1953) plus the cost of improvements over the course of the ownership of the house to measure your total gain on the sale.
