My residential real estate depreciates at 30 years (ADS), which should be 27.5 years (GDS).
Is there a way to change it to GDS method? I filed tax with other folks in previous years, and have been used GDS; IRS does not allow to switch to ADS.

That's a good point. The webpage does not say anything about this, and the page still has the download link published.

Yes, it appears TurboTax removed the 3520 form from their 2025 TurboTax return edition. Thanks for the heads-up. Groan, yet another form to complete for the IRS.

As a resident of the state of New York, all your income regardless of where it was earned is taxable by the state. This includes investment income, income earned out of state, etc. Non-residents of New York City do not pay the NYC personal income tax; however, if you are a non-resdident employee of NYC, you must file Form NYC-1127 to pay a city tax liability payment, which is the essentially the same tax you would pay if you were a NYC resident. New York City taxes all income, earned and unearned, regardless of where earned. Appropriateness does not seem to factor into it.

If you open TurboTax and let it update and check your New York bottom line, if it has changed from your original filing, you could Amend your NY return. However, I would wait until NY has finished processing your return to do so, in the event they correct the error.
Click the NY link to check the status of your return.

You can carry forward NOLs indefinitely, but you cannot skip years. Your 2019 NOL needs to be first applied to your 2020 return, recalculated and then applied to 2021, etc.

This year Turbotax Desktop reports a tax due more than 25x my usual amount. The form does not appear to recalculate when new information is added - it is stuck on a very large tax due. . The Federal Form has my broker entered 4 times, 3 of the entries show Zero, but the entries cannot be deleted. . I was unable to enter the SSA-1099 information in the Step or Take me through procedures. I had to find the form and enter the information on the appropriate three lines. . When I enter any new information, the tax I owe doesn't change. . The State form clicks send me into a round robin of Continue. . I cannot reach Review. Online TurboTax this year is really balky - I've spent hours trying to enter information. For all I know, there's information entered 3x in the background and that's how I'm getting an outta sight Tax Due number. I think there are serious bugs - and I rely on Turbotax Desktop for my taxes,. Any plans to fix? I don't know how to start again from scratch. Help - Sharon

EDIT note: 3/17/2026 at 9:10 PM Pacific I just tested and was able to download the 2020 product, so you may be able to get the 2021 product if you can get past the technical issue, but I don't know whether it will activate.

When you transfer MLP shares out of a Roth IRA (in-kind transfer) the move is generally treated as a distribution at current fair market value and their cost basis is reset to the fair market value on the date of the transfer. Qualified distributions from a Roth are tax-free; however, MLP units may have hidden ordinary income (recaptured depreciation) that can become taxable when transferred. If the distribution is deemed a sale, you could be liable for tax on previously untaxed income inside the IRA from depreciation recapture classified as UBTI.

What is showing at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool? https://www.irs.gov/refunds The "up to 5 days early" offer is based on when the IRS has approved and is ready to send the refund, and is supposed to come 1-5 days earlier than if your refund had come directly from the IRS. If you paid a $35 fee, TurboTax says you will not be charged the fee if the refund doesn't come at least 1 day early. People getting the refund on a Credit Karma MoneySpend had no fee for the "up to 5-day early" offer.

Hi @MarilynG1 , Thanks for the reply. I don't have any anti-virus software installed. I tried using an Incognito window and different broswers. Still got the same error message. Also, the error message showed up once I entered the key. Seems I have no problem for other versions, say 2024.
