Please do not spend your time responding to my post. After reading more I realized I am a Georgia resident for the entire year of 2025 since I lived there over 183 days.

I am facing the same issue. Were you able to resolve it?

If you qualify, you can claim the credit when you prepare your Kansas resident tax return. On the Take a look at Kansas credits and taxes page, scroll down and click Start next to Other Credits and Credit Carryovers. Answer YES and then enter the amount on the KS-26 line; it's the 4th item in the list.

When I tested the situation you described, the section for retirement income reported on Form 1099-R actually came up before Social Security income.  If you did not get that option, then use the instructions provided above by user xmasbaby0 to enter your Form 1099-R income or take a look at the following TurboTax help article for instructions:   Where do I enter my 1099-R?   Please also share which version of TurboTax you are using so I can follow-up with that particular version to be sure there is not an issue that needs further investigation.   @dbputman

@imageprods Then I cannot understand why you would have a problem. When using the interview section of the program and there is a box for entering an amount, either double click or Edit and Supporting Details will be displayed.   Try this - Go to Deductions & Credits.  Then start the Medical Expenses section.  On a screen for entering medical expenses of any type put the cursor in the box.  Click on Edit and on Add Supporting Details.  Does that work?

If Form 8960 is not populating in your return when you expected it would be, it's likely because you do not meet the filing threshold for Net Investment Income tax this year. From the IRS 8960 "Who Must File" instructions: Who Must File  Attach Form 8960 to your return if your modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) is greater than the applicable threshold amount. The applicable threshold amount is based on your filing status.  • Married filing jointly or Qualifying surviving spouse is $250,000.  • Married filing separately is $125,000.  • Single or Head of household is $200,000. With the exception of certain adjustments for income from CFC's and PFIC's (this is unusual), your MAGI for NII purposes will generally be your AGI on Line 11a of Form 1040.  TurboTax Tip: Even if you have net investment income, you only have to file Form 8960 if you owe the NIIT. You can file without expert assistance. You may need to downgrade the version of the software you are using. Here's an article showing how to remove TurboTax Live.

We would like to research this further. It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2025" file that is experiencing this issue.   You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information.  If you would like to do this, please follow these instructions:    In TurboTax Online, open your return, go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.  Then select Tools below Tax Tools. A window will pop up which says Tools Center. On this screen, select Share my file with Agent. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number. You may wish to snap a screenshot to post instead of the actual number. Reply to this thread with your Token number (including the dash) and tag (@) the Expert requesting the token from you. Please include any States that are part of your return - this is VERY important. If you are using TurboTax for Desktop, go to Online in the top menu, then choose "Send Tax File to Agent."   We will then be able to see the same experience you are having. If we are able to determine the cause, we'll reply here and possibly provide you with a resolution.

It depends. In general, salaried employees are exempt from overtime under FLSA, making them ineligible for this tax benefit.   However, some salaried workers may be entitled to overtime compensation that would qualify for the no tax on overtime deduction.   You can review the TurboTax article  Who qualifies for the overtime deduction?

Our Easy Extension website will allow you to file an extension online.  The extension is IRS Form 4868, and that is what you'll be signing and transmitting. Filing the Form 4868 does not transmit any other part of your tax return or any other forms.   You are asked to pay the balance you estimate will be due, as an extension is an extension of time to file your income tax return, it is not an extension of time to pay.

The refund date posted by TurboTax is only an estimate.   Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.   Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.   If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...   After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.  I made a Roth IRA contribution of $7,000 in 2024.  At the end of the year I fell into the phaseout range and had an $1,120 excess contribution.  I removed that and the earnings of $398.      As expected, in early 2026 I received a 2025 1099-R reporting the full withdrawal and the taxable amount, however when I amended 2024 the $398 earnings increased my MAGI.  The new excess was $1,400.  So $280 more than I removed.  So, I was correctly assessed the 6% penalty on the $280 on the amended return.   my question involves the remaining $280 excess.  At this point I have to remove it, but believe I can do so without removing more earnings, thus no MAGI increase issue.   It’s now March 2026. I’m wondering if I should be requesting a removal of additional excess or an actual withdrawal of prinicipal.  And then how that gets reported so the 6% penalty stops running.  I believe I’ll have another 6% for 2025, but not after that.     So, if removed in 2026 will I get a 2026 1099-R next year (2027)?   And if so how do I report it?   Do I send in a separate 5329 or input to the 2027 taxes.  And if I request an actual distribution how does the IRS know it’s the $280 to cover the excess from 2024.   I assume no 10% penalty is assessed as it’s a Roth.     If I will get a 2026 1099-R to file next year can I create a substitute and report it this year, or should I wait? And how do I report it correctly?   File a 5329 now or include it in the tax return?  I apologize for the length but without all the info it would be hard to answer accurately.  Again, thank you in advance for any info you can provide.   I use TT premier desktop    Gina
