Hey BillM223, this was the best advice in attempt at resolving this issue.  I did call the 1-800 help line and I shared my screen, and the guy was nice, but couldn't figure it out, and he told me to pay MAX to get expert help.  This is not a tax issue, it's a software issue.  I think your solution may work.  I will give it a try and see what happens.  I'm not going to delete everything, just W2 and HSA sections and walk through those pieces again to see if it allows me to enter my personal HSA contributions.  Let's see!  I'll get back to you.  Thank you sooo much!

This is most unwelcome. I've been using It's Deductible for many years. I've become dependent on it. This is a slap in the face to me, personally. I've been using it TurboTax since 1995. I'm going to reevaluate my process based on this betrayal. Good Bye, TurboTax? I would like someone to call me about this to discuss this colossally stupid event. Did I mention I feel betrayed? You would have to look at your Form 1040 to see where the refund is coming from. It would be listed on line 34 and 35(a) on your Form 1040. It would be line 24 (tax) minus lines 25, 26 and 32. Those lines will list your tax paid in and tax credits you are eligible for. The first page of Form 1040 and up to line 15 on the second page would list your income and certain deductions. You can compare that to the same form last year to see what may have changed and then investigate further.   To view your Form 1040:   Choose Tax Tools from your left menu bar in TurboTax Online while working in your program Choose Tools Choose View Tax Summary See the Preview my 1040 option in the left menu bar and click on it Choose the Back option in the left menu bar when you are done

You can navigate back to the section where you made the entries about the theft loss and delete them, whether you entered the loss in Schedule C or itemized deductions or elsewhere. You can then delete any unneeded forms that were created in TurboTax from your entries.    See this help article for instructions to delete a form in TurboTax Online. In TurboTax Desktop, go to Forms Mode by selecting Forms at the top of the screen and then searching the list of forms on the left side. You can delete a form once you select it by clicking Delete Form at the bottom of the display.   Casualty deductions apply to losses from unexpected events like natural disasters, theft, or accidents that damage your property. However, beginning with tax year 2018, a deduction is generally not available for net personal casualty losses (personal casualty losses in excess of personal casualty gains) unless the loss is caused by a federally declared disaster. If you have a business, you can account for the loss of business property on Schedule C or other business return.   Please see this help article and this IRS webpage for more information.

Yes, Alaska does follow the Secure Act 2.0 and allow rollovers from 529 plans to a Roth IRA.  Make sure if the Roth IRA is for the beneficiary, that the contribution is not entered in the recipient's tax return as a rollover contribution.    According to IRS Publication 970, qualified rollovers are not reported on your tax return. If you choose not to enter it in tax software, keep it in your records to show the IRS if needed.    Here's more detailed info on the Alaska 529 and IRS Pub. 970.   @BogeyGolfer13

So, I was able to link Fidelity accounts and the forms that were available by 2/2/2026 were auto-import just fine. However, as new forms have become available those are not automatically auto-import. In fact, my both linked fidelity accounts are marked as "auto-import not available" I'm afraid that I need to delete the imported forms, unlink the Fidelity accounts, and do it again when all forms are available. This is tremendously unproductive. Does anyone have a solution to Fidelity forms are auto-import as new forms come available?

The Form 1040-X for amending a 2025 federal tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 02/25/2026   An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-curr...

I am also a longtime TurboTax customer -- since the 90's.  Been using their web interface since it was first available.   I went to start my taxes yesterday and the only way to continue was through an "Expert Assist" link.  I was supremely angry about this.  I did not initially find any way to get out of it, so I logged off, disgusted.   I made the decision that if I could not get out of it today, I was switching to a competitor tax service.  The "Switch Products --> Downgrade" option that only allowed downgrade from "Expert Assist Premium" to "Expert Assist Basic" was a terrible start.  I almost quit right there.   Lucky for me, I did not get far yesterday and clearing my return and starting over was not a big deal.  I was relieved to finally find the product features comparison chart where "Do it yourself" was shown and a "Select" link was present at the bottom of the page.   Intuit:  You almost lost a decades-long customer with this new dark practice of force-funneling people into paying more.  Since I managed to get out of it, I will still do my taxes with TurboTax this year.  But if you pull these shenanigans again next year, I'm out.  That's a promise.  You already lost @charthom8 and many others.  More will follow.   The decisionmakers at Intuit who agreed to go this route should be fired.  Tricking an extra $179 out of people who either don't notice or don't have the time to start over is a surefire way to lose millions in a mass customer exodus.

There have been several similar questions to this asked within the past few weeks, but none seem to address the 'error' I am seeing. I am using TT Premier for Windows Desktop. My tax situation involves calculating taxes with the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet. All my separate calculations match what TT shows on the worksheet using Forms view until I get to line 22 which is the tax calculated using the amount on line 5. My line 5 is 206,045. TT calculates 35,158 on line 22. When I separately calculate the tax on the line 5 amount using the worksheet in IRS pub 17 and/or i1040gi I get (206,045*0.24) - 14306 = 35,145. The line 22 calculation is the only calculation that does not match my external calculations. The 15% QD/CG is correct. The NIIT calculation is correct. Only this one is off.

Similar circumstance:  I have had an HDHP/HSA for the past several years.  I applied in January 2026 for SS Retirement Benefits to start in April 2026 which automatically enrolled me in Medicare Part A retroactively to July 2025.  When I completed the "What type of plan" questions to reflect "Medicare" for July through December 2025 I then had to provide information from my 2024 tax form with the same set of questions even though I was legitimately covered by the HDHP/HSA for all of 2024.  Why was that needed?   As test I'm going to kludge up a "fake" 1099-SA pretending I withdrew the excess on December 31, 2025 and compare TurboTax's calculated Federal refund to that amount from the "What type of plan" questions.  I'm presuming that should show the same - or close to the same - reduction in my Federal refund; is that a correction presumption?
At this moment, this option is not available in deduction. Since it was amended in 2024, this act will come into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.    Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

We can't answer why you're not receiving the Child Tax Credit (CTC) because we can't see your tax return but I've provided some information below that may explain it.   The maximum amount of the Child Tax Credit (CTC) is $2,200 for each qualifying child, and the maximum refundable additional Child Tax Credit is $1,700. To be eligible for the full amount, your modified adjusted gross income has to be under $400,000 for Married Filing Jointly or Qualified Widower and $200,000 for all other filing statuses. If your income exceeds the threshold, your CTC is reduced. In order to qualify for the Additional Child Tax Credit, you must have more than $2,500 in earned income. The additional Child Tax Credit is up to $1,700 per child based on your income.   If you have children that are older than 16 at the end of 2025, they don't qualify you to get the CTC, but you may still be eligible to get the   $500 non-refundable credit for Other Dependents instead.   In addition to the requirements listed above, you child must meet the following eligibility requirements to qualify for the Child Tax Credit. Be under 17 by 12/31/2025 Be related to you (child, stepchild, foster or adopted child, sibling, or descendant of any of them) Have a Social Security Number that makes them eligible for work in the U. S. Lived with you for more than half of the year Be a dependent on your tax return Didn't provide for more than half of their expenses Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. resident alien.   For more information, refer to the TurboTax Help articles: Child Tax Credit: Top 8 Requirements for 2025-2026, What is the Child Tax Credit?, and What is the Additional Child Tax Credit?
Thank you for the explanation! Its very helpful!
