CLASS ACTION ALERT! It seems as if credit karma and TurboTax are misleading people. There are too many people who have been rejected with terms that seem to be clear. Once the refund is accepted and is on the way what reason would credit karma have to reject the advance. The ONLY reason I opted to have my refund deposited into a credit karma account is for the advance. Now its been rejected there's no way to switch it to another bank account. Credit Karma intentionally mislead clients to deposit their tax refunds into a credit karma account and have no intention on approving refund advances.

Did you take allocable expenses on your royalty income? I can’t see your return so not much help on why. Depends on income, losses, other income. Are you subject to Net Investment Income Taxes, etc.   Passive royalty income is generally taxed only at standard income tax rates (10%–37%), while self-employment (SE) income is taxed at standard rates plus a 15.3% self-employment tax (Social Security/Medicare). Passive royalties avoid the 15.3% SE tax, though they may be subject to a 3.8% Net Investment Income Tax

No. Passive income on Schedule C net is subject to SE taxes while Schedule E would not be  why taxes went up but, you should have taken related expenses against the income, no net loss allowed..

I downloaded and installed Desktop TT Premier 2025 on an external hard drive. I have done this before without a problem on all previous versions of TT. The install location is "E:\TurboTax\Premier 2025".   On starting up, I get the "Error 214" (Some forms are missing ... etc.). I have tried many of the corrective steps suggested in this forum, including repairing the VC++ redistributable, running as administrator, disabling virus scanning and firewalls. None of these worked.   When I try to uninstall, I get the error "The folder path 'Premier 2025' contains an invalid character". So now I can neither run it nor uninstall it. There are no invalid characters in the path and I have successfully used this method on all previous of TT in earlier years.    Please help!!

In the “ready to file step”… I click “I want to e-file” that brings me to the next screen that gives me “phone number verified successfully”. I click “continue” the next screen gives my tax info. I haven’t filed taxes in years so it lists: my name, “N/A” for the identity protection pin, and “$0” for 2024 adjusted gross income.  I click “continue” to next screen where it asks me to verify with a DL or State ID.  THIS is where the problem starts….  i choose state ID and am brought to a QR code to scan. Scan it and go thru with uploading my ID and a biometric picture of myself and then I’m stuck on a screen telling me to come back in 24 hrs.  I come back in 24 hrs and here it is I’ve gotta do the all these steps all over again!!!  like I said, Turbo Tax/Intuit was SUPER quick to take my money yet now there’s no one to help me and I can’t even file.

Long story short. I asked AI "if two people are on a mortgage loan of 1.1m, how much itemized deduction does each person get since the loan is more 750k" Two people on a $1.1M mortgage If you split everything 50/50: Total loan: $1.1M Each person’s share: $550k  Since $550k < $750k limit: Each person can deduct 100% of the interest they personally pai Turbo Tax seems to prorate it based off of 750k, even though all of my interest is deductible.

I am preparing a married filing jointly return where I try to report two backdoor conversions. Mine (which I have been doing for years) looks correct. My wive's conversion, which should be simple (first time non-deductible contribution, no history, no contributions for previous year) causes issues. It keeps showing taxable amount in form 8606 regardless of what I do. What's even weirder, the taxable amount is half the contribution amount.    Here is what I see on my wive's 8606: 1: Nondeductible contributions: 7000 2: Total basis: 0 3: 1+2: 7000 4: 2025 Contributions in 2026: Empty 5: 7000 6-12: Empty  13: nontaxable portion: 3500   When I do the math manually line 13 should be 7000.    Eventually this is used in 1040 and I see the following: 4a IRA distributions: 14000 4b Taxable amount 3500   Can someone take a look at this? The token number is: 1343902

Hi I’m using TurboTax Do It Yourself (Online), through the browser(Edge) Sold our house in Canada (we lived in it) Moved to Europe after we sold the house No other economic ties/income in Canada    Am I forced to send paper return ?   It doesn’t give an error code, just says that I cannot netfile   "You indicated that you left Canada in 2025. TurboTax only supports paper filing for emigrants. This option is available in the File section."     Thx   Sincerely,

I understand that Oregon allows a deduction from OR income that is based on federal service prior to 1 Oct 1991.     The Federal Service "to" date is the ending date of your federal service on which the retirement pay is based.  You should also find a request for the Federal Service "from" or beginning date.  The percentage of your service prior to Oct 1991 is used to deduct from your OR taxable federal pension.    I have 2 periods of federal service that when combined make up my federal pens amount.  My first period of federal service was from 09-05-1978 to 08-01-1980 and then from 06-01-1993 to 12-31-2019.    When the federal government calculated my federal retirement, they ran the prior period of service to the beginning date of my 2nd period.  The retirement dates that they showed from me was from 07-04-1991 to 12-31-2019.    What dates do I record under the federal pension section of Turbo Tax? How do I get credit for all the time period from 1978 to 1980 on the program?
