The fastest option is to log in to your IRS Online Account and provide direct deposit details for a faster payment (usually within a week).  But you did say that you were having trouble with ID-Me.   Within 30 days, the IRS will send a letter requesting updated banking information.   If you can't use direct deposit, a paper check will still be issued to the address on your tax return, but will be delayed for up to six weeks.

Please clarify what type of K-1 you are working with. Is it the federal Form 1041 K-1 or the California Form 541 K-1? There are no boxes for Lines 5(b), (c), (d), or (e) on either of those K-1s. You ... See more...

If you are eligible for the New York State pension exclusion because you have a New York State and City Education Retirement Program, you can make sure this pension is excluded using the steps listed below.  This exclusion will show on Line 26 of your New York State Tax Return Form IT-201.   To exclude your New York State and City Education Retirement Plan, after your Form 1099-R is entered into TurboTax you will see a screen that says, "Where is your distribution from?" You should select the second circle Retirement distributions from New York State and City Education (optional retirement program) to ensure your pension is properly excluded.   When you do this, your distribution information should flow to your New York State Income Tax Return and be recognized as excluded.     To get to those screens in TurboTax to review your entries, you can: Click on Search at the top right of your TurboTax screen Type Form 1099-R in the search box Click on the link Jump to Form 1099-R Select your Form 1099-R for your New York State pension and follow through the screens until you see "Where is your distribution from?" The next thing to try is open 2024 in the 2024 program and let the program update. Then save your return. Some users say to try to OPEN your 2024 return in the 2025 program. Then the program asks if you want to tranfer it.

Thanks @DianeW777 .  I am on the desktop version.  This confirms that TurboTax does not calculate the SC underpayment amount correctly for anyone who does not have the same withholding amounts for each of the payment periods, and there is no real option other than to go into the forms and override the values.  This affects every single SC user who is impacted by the underpayment amount.  This may create situations for all of these people where they may be charged more or less based on this inaccurate calculation.

I used the FMV tool in the software, but all it does let me search for ONE item at a time.  It does not total up the value for, say, a box full of clothing items as a single donation, which is what the prior "it's deductible" interface did; I had to do that part manually (not hard, just tedious.)  So now TT shows three donations to my thrift store, each of which is labeled something like "box of women's clothing" with an associated FMV that I calculated and entered; unlike in past years, TT has no record of the individual items in those three boxes.  I have the items inventoried on paper along with the FMVs that TT provided, and I want to be sure that that is sufficient documentation.

Or if you want to send a file for us to review.   If you would like to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information it would help.  If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:  (Don't forget to give us the state)   TurboTax Online: Open your return -Go to the menu panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools.  Then select Tools below Tax Tools. A window will pop up which says Tools Center.   On this screen, select Share my file with Agent. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number. Reply to this thread with your Token number and your state. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information. TurboTax Desktop: If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps: Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'* > Follow the prompts to reach the token number. Enter your email used for TurboTax > Enter your code > Send Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue. We can then review your exact scenario for a solution. Please also tell us any states included in the return. This is necessary for us to view the return. *If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, 'Send Tax File to Agent')   We will be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return to provide you with a resolution.

There are some possible reasons why you cannot see the direct deposit option.    One of them is due to a browser glitch. To fix this, you may clear your browser’s cache and cookies from your computer. Follow the instructions below: How do I delete cookies  How to clear your cache    Another common reason is if you already have e-filed your return. In that case you must wait until the IRS processes it. If your return is pending or rejected, you can enter your bank account information by signing into your account.    If it is already accepted, you won't be able to make any changes.   One more reason should be that you unintentionally select the "file by mail" option, which automatically removes the direct deposit feature. In that situation you will get a check mailed to the address listed on your tax return.

I have entered my dependents birthdate, entered that they lived with me for the entire year (correct for a child born during 2025) and entered their SSN.  All of this shows as correct under Personal Info and form 4547 reflects correct content in Part II (lines 1-6).  Yet, the form does not check box 7 nor does it let me manually check/change the settings in that box.  Grr.

When the browser window opens for you to Sign In to your Merrill account, click the icon in front of the URL address (may be a lock or radio waves, depending on browser).  Then in 'Settings' make sure Local Network connection access is marked 'Allow'.     Remember that the IRS already has copies of all your 1099's.  You can use a Category Summary Total in your tax return.   @jcaldwellpe

I am looking for clarity on why my California Form 568 (LLC) was not filed for the past three years and how to prevent this in the future. My filing history: 2022 (Desktop Business): As it was my first year, the software gave clear instructions to "Print and Mail" the package for Form 568. I followed those instructions and filed successfully. My business was originally started out-of-state and was transferred to California that year. It is a single-member LLC and a very simple business. 2023 (Desktop Business) 2024 (Online Business) 2025 (Online Expert Assist Business Sole Proprietor 2025) The Issue: For 2023, 2024, and 2025, I received no instructions to mail any documents during the E-file process. Furthermore, I received notifications stating my "California filing was Accepted." Based on this, I believed everything (including Form 568) had been filed electronically. However, I recently discovered that Form 568 was never received by the FTB for these three years.   My Questions: Why did the software stop providing the "Print and Mail" instructions after 2022? Why did I receive an "Accepted" status if a critical part of the business filing was missing? What is the best practice for next year to ensure Form 568 is filed correctly alongside my personal return?  
TurboTax desktop.  When I click on continue, a tax return I am working on, I get nothing but a box saying opening tax return, but the return does not open
