Same problem on my Windows 11 laptop.  I couldn't find a workable solution anywhere, so I consulted Copilot (AI) and got a good solution.  Here is Copilot's summary of the solution: Many TurboTax 2025 users find that the program won’t bring forward their 2024 tax information, and a common cause is that the .tax2024 file is stored in OneDrive instead of on the local hard drive. Even though OneDrive appears as a normal Documents folder, TurboTax often treats cloud‑synced locations as external or restricted storage and refuses to read the file. The solution is to copy the .tax2024 data file out of OneDrive and into a truly local folder such as C:\Users\Documents or Documents\TurboTax\2024. Then restart TurboTax 2025, choose the option to browse for last year’s file, and select the local copy. Once the file is stored locally, the import works immediately.

Did you receive an IRS notice in the Mail?  If so, what does the IRS indicate for why they changed your tax return from receiving a refund to owing taxes?  The notice is usually very detailed.

Q. How do I make sure I am receiving the new senior tax exemption? A. Look at line 13b on form 1040.   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated* on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors. From there, it goes to line 13b of form 1040. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it, based on your birthdate.

If you return to the step-by-step interview for your K-1, TurboTax will present a sub-form for Form 7203 with instructions to manually enter your distributions on Line 6. In Forms Mode, a field highlighted in yellow is designated for user input rather than an automatic entry by the software.    If Form 7203 of your prior year return failed to include distributions for that tax year, you may wish to file an amended return to include that information, especially if the omission affects your basis in the S-Corp. You will also need to adjust your beginning balance on this year's Form 7203 Line 1.

Yes. If you don't have any canceled debt and mistakenly entered information about a 1099-C in TurboTax, you can remove it by going back to the section where you entered the 1099-C information. To remove the 1099-C entry: 1. Navigate to the Wages & Income section. 2. Find the part labeled Miscellaneous Income, then 1099-A, 1099-C. 3. Select Edit or Review for the 1099-C you entered. 4. Look for an option to Delete or Remove that specific 1099-C form entry.
