There are plenty of discussions on this forum regarding the software bug causing Turbo Tax to incorrectly populate the Residential Energy Credit Form 5695. I understand a fix is supposedly coming on Mar 6 but I have to say this is unacceptable and the way Intuit has handled it is horrendous. They should be emailing all their customers informing them of this bug. I wonder how many have filed and not received the credit because they incorrectly thought  they didn't qualify for the credit because the software incorrectly told them so. The help staff was woefully unprepared as well. The person I spoke to had no knowledge of it and I could tell they were searching in the same forums I had just spent an hour in. I finally asked if they were either going to notify us somehow when the bug fix was available and all I got was no they have no way to do that. They certainly have a way to tell me I got a new badge and send me marketing materials but they can't let me know about updates?! Then they had the gall to "close" my ticket as if it had been resolved because he could not do anything for me. They certainly were able to notify me the ticket was closed and ask me to fill out a survey but not when the fix was available. SMH This has been my most awful software experience ever (and I am a SharePoint user lol) and their customer service was useless. I have spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong when I should have had my taxes filed days ago. Is Intuit going to pay me interest on my delayed refund? And this all occurred AFTER I already had fought with Turbo Tax online for hours trying to figure out how to go back and modify my State return after entering review mode only to learn you couldn't (actually I lie, you could edit. Just needed to clear everything and re-enter it. My bad SMH.) So I had to purchase the desktop version instead and re-enter everything again anyway. I will never use Turbo Tax again. They are completely and totally incompetent.
The help section says to go back and select Another Person when asked who I support, but it only goes back to my info.

I updated the software yesterday and the problem is still there.

If you are using Desktop, go to File > New.   If you are using TurboTax Online, you need to create a separate account if you don't already have one. You can use the "sign Out" link on the bottom left of your screen to exit your son's return. If you already had an account with the same email, when you re-login, you can choose your return.

You should get a screen in your Massachusetts State Interview where you can indicate how much of your total Federal Capital Gains amount belongs to MA.  Look for a screen titled 'Gain/Loss Differences'.  The next screen will have a box to make an adjusting entry amount, where you enter a negative amount for the amount of Federal gain reported that does not belong to MA (you'll have to do some math).  The screen you were referencing appears later, accessed from the Summary page.    Here's more info on  Allocating Income for a Part-Year Resident.   @bobmcbride

This is a public forum that can provide no help to recover whatever you think you deserve. if TurboTax/Intuit refuses, your only recourse would be the courts.

I wanted to print my state return, but got an "error" message telling me I had errors in my return, and it asked me if I wanted to continue with the print or fix it.  I chose to return and fix it, but it put me in a loop.   I am still able to print my return, but I don't dare since I was told I have errors.    I am assuming the state return is finished since it was telling me to print it, but I didn't go thru the form as it was preparing.  I guess my Federal carried over and filled in my blanks.  If I print the return and read thru it on my own to try and figure out the errors.....I don't have the tax knowledge to know what's wrong with it.  If I had that knowledge, I wouldn't need Turbotax.   Anyone have a suggestion on what I should do? Thanks

if accepted, you'll have to wait until it's fully processed and then file an amended return. if rejected, you can add the w-2 and resubmit.
