Also waiting on an answer to this issue -- particularly the # of shares not listing in column (c) for description. (The number of shares worked last year.)

The update version is "WinPer Release 025 dot 000 dot 0267". The last post stripped the version number thinking it was a phone number. Not.

Ditto. Still not there. I got an update to Version 025.000.0267 on friday (i'm guessing the weekly thurs night update?), but the education expenses page still only includes prompts for required and optional books. I stepped through entire Deductions & Credits > Education section via "Visit All". When it got to education expenses, it said i don't qualify for credits, pressed continue, edit/stepped thru the "schools" section again, then 'continue' again to get to the (still incomplete) education expense page. Note, on my first attempt through, i did not edit/step through my existing "school" entry, in that case, 'continue' just brought me back to the main deductions page, skipping the education expense page all together. Clearly there is some conditional logic that is at play here that is not working correctly.

Yes. She should file as single since it has now been more than two years after the year of death and also requires her to have a dependent child.
In Common Law States (non-community property), the IRS treats a joint account as being owned 50/50 by each spouse. Therefore, your father's half was stepped up to the Fair Market Value (FMV) on his date of death, but her half keeps the original cost basis (what was actually paid for the stocks).
To input this in TurboTax, do the following:
Enter the Form 1099-B exactly as it is writtent, by going to Federal; Wages & Income; Investment Income, Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Other
On the screen that asks "Do any of these less common situations apply?", check the box for "I need to adjust my cost basis"
TurboTax will then ask for the Corrected Basis. Enter the amount you calculated using the 50/50 rule above
For the "Inherited" half, TurboTax often suggests typing "Inherited" as the date, which automatically grants Long-Term Capital Gains treatment, regardless of how long she actually held them

For tax purposes, foster parents are considered legal parents when determining whether or not the child is a dependent on your tax return as long as the foster child was placed in your home by the state or an agency approved by the state.
In the TurboTax Online interview area for your foster child, after you select that you are the legal parents, the following screen will allow you to select Foster Child and answer the question as to whether or not the child was placed with you by an authorized placement agency, judgment, or court order.
See this TurboTax article for more information on the rules for claiming dependents on taxes.

No, I am using desktop Turbo Tax Deluxe installed on my laptop. Like I have always done. This year when I answered the question as to whether I had 1099b (downloaded from my stockbroker) TT flashed that to deal with 1099 I need to upgrade. Could be a bug or a change for 2025. Do you know?

Yes, that $2000 will reduce the taxable amount of his scholarship. The "proper way" is to add the 2nd 1098-T to his return (not yours). TurboTax (TT) should do it correctly. But, that can get messy and I have heard some gripes in this forum.
Just adding the $2000 ($10,895) to the first 1098-T will get you the right result ($6017 of taxable scholarship).
Change only the entry on the student's tax return. For yours, it still $4000 in box 1 and 0 (or blank) in box 5.

You are correct you do not want to enter 2024 1099 information on your 2025 tax return. You are seeing your 2024 Form(s) 1099 likely because you imported last year’s tax data, and TurboTax carried over old forms into your 2025 return. To fix this, delete the 2024 forms 1099 and manually enter your 2025 forms 1099. This way, you can ensure that your entries are accurate.
I don't know what type of Form 1099 you are referring to so I am using an "X" in place of, for instance, the "R" in 1099-R or the INT in 1099-INT.
To do this, you can use these steps to delete your 2024 forms: If you are using TurboTax Online:
In your left panel of your TurboTax screen click on "Tax Tools"
And then Click on "Tools"
Click on "Delete a Form"
Scroll through your list of Forms
Click the garbage can next to "Form 1099-X"
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can:
Click on "Forms" in the upper right of your TurboTax screen to switch to "Forms Mode"
In your left panel scroll down and look for "Form 1099-X"
In your right panel at the bottom of Form 1099-X, click on "Delete Form"
Click on "Yes" to confirm the deletion.
You can use these steps to enter your 2025 1099 forms:
Click on "Search" at the top right of your TurboTax screen.
Type "Form 1099-X" in the search box.
Click on the link "Jump to Form 1099-X"
This will take you to your entry screens in TurboTax for these forms
Continue through your screens and answer all follow-up questions.
Click here for How Do I View and Delete Forms in TurboTax Online
Click here for "How to Delete Forms in TurboTax Desktop.
Click here for information on entering a Form 1099-INT.
Click here for " Where do I enter my 1099-R?"
Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.
