No, do not subtract anything out of Box 1 on your W-2, please don't alter your W-2 at all.  Enter your W-2 exactly as it was reported.  CONTINUE If you need to adjust your tip income, there are two options.   1. You received tips but did not report them to your employer 2.  You received tips AND YOU DID report them to your employer, but your employer did not list the tips in Box 7 on your W-2.    If #1, report the tips via your tax return, you will be charged the FICA tax that was not paid on the unreported tips.   If #2, adjust the amount of tips on the screens that FOLLOW the input of the W-2.  2. Enter the W-2 FIRST, (no adjustments) THEN use the screen that follows.    2/3/2025 The update is ready in TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop will be updated soon.

So I was told by a tax expert supervisor that this was a known issue, and they added my file to their ongoing “investigation”. The problem now is that they actually deposited the wrong, far lower than initially calculated federal amount into my checking account, leaving thousands of dollars on the table. If this goes unresolved, then I assume legal action against TurboTax to recover the funds would have to be assumed.  The IRS website still shows the proper amount, and shows that my return has only been “received” by them.
