@williamsty676   asked:  "Has the irs accepted my refund yet?"   It depends on what you mean by "accepted."    "Accepted" is a term used for the efile status.  Or are you asking if the IRS has "approved" your refund?   If you recently efiled, you should get an efile results about 24-48 hours later (often sooner), that says if your efile is accepted or rejected.     Go to the Tax Home page.  What does it show about your efile; i.e., which of these terms:  pending, accepted, rejected, printed, started, or what?   If the Tax Home confirms that your efile was accepted for processing by the IRS, then what do you see at the IRS website when you use the "Where's My Refund" tool? https://sa.www4.irs.gov/wmr/   The IRS uses 3 stages in that tool: Return received and is processing Refund approved Refund sent and an expected deposit date.

I'm not sure what you mean by "TurboTax won't allow", so I'll tell you in general how to find and download your 2024 tax return.   This answer assumes your previous returns were prepared in Online TurboTax.   Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account.  Here's how one would normally find past-year online returns and how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) if necessary.  Many people end up with more than 1 account.  The pathway to download the PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2025 return.  I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation.   If you have not yet started a 2025 online return: Sign in to your account.   What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2025 return in that account.   If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2025 return in that account.  If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions.  Answer those preliminary questions on a few screens (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process, the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option in the left menu column.  Do not click the Documents tab.  Instead, click on Tax Home.  Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents".  Expand that section and choose the past year you want.   If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one.  I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot.   If you have already started a 2025 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2025 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home.  If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu.  Do not use the Documents tab.  At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents."   If the past returns are not there, see the steps below.   If you do all that and can't find the past return, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.   To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:          Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

As the post said, I need to add a second w2 to my taxes for a separate job, but was never given the option in the app. Now I am here on the browser and the AI that was "helping" me has been less than useless with literally anything and kept telling me to go to tabs that don't exist on the site or app. I need to amend my refund, but there is no option too.

Are you correctly leaving the interface open when you go to get the code?  When it sends you the code, you must leave that window open that asked for the code.   If you close it, the code will always be seen as invalid or expired.   So leave the TT screen open, and use one of these methods to go to your email to get the code : A second browser tab A second browser window Another browser Or check your email with your phone to get the code.   To save time you can have your email account already open and logged into, then you won't have to spend any time logging into it.   Or instead, you may be able to verify your email address inside your Intuit Account, and then maybe you won't be asked for a verification code when efiling.   To do that, go to the left column menu and scroll way down to click the tab Intuit Account.  When in the account settings, choose the tab "Sign In & Security."   See if your email address shown in your account has a little tag by it that says "unverified."   If so, click on that little tag and try to verify it there.
I saw multiple advertismenta saying it was free to file.  And multiple that said file on and by this day for free no later, but then charge me 90 dollars for something that is a simple and free.
That’s great to hear problem is being worked on. I am looking forward for the software update soon.

I need to file a form 8938. As reported here 4 years ago, TT is filling line 6 (Maximum value of all deposit accounts) incorrectly by simply summing up the "Maximum value of account during tax year" of all my foreign accounts. Because I move money among those accounts, the value TT calculates is much more than the amount I actually owned.    This bug has not been fixed in four years. In the past year, I just filed tax returns with this error. But this year, because I shifted a substantial amount of money between two accounts, the error is huge in the scale of tens of thousands, and I am not sure if I should file my tax return with this huge error.   I would like to know what Intuit recommends I do.    I thought I could just use Edit>Override in the Form mode and override the incorrect amount. But this article tells me that I would not be able to e-file and it would void the TurboTax's guarantee. I was going to purchase Audit Defense but that requires I use e-file.    Should I just file with the error and hope that use the Turbo Tax Guarantee to pay for the penalty if IRS audits me?

Thanks for trying to help me here.  I DID initially try the SCAN feature, using my phone to take the picture, which automatically uploaded the picture to TurboTax's interpreting engine.  It told me it was unable to process it, presumably implying that it didn't capture any of the numbers from the SSA-1099-SM form.   It DID retain the picture for some reason.   As I continued working in the ONLINE Do-it-Yourself Premium version, and it began reporting a running total of what my tax liability/refund was, I tried drilling down to see the numbers it was using (from my W-2, other 1099-s, etc.) and it didn't contain any indication that it had my Social Security values. I then tried to find ways to enter the values manually - and found a "Revisit" rather than "Edit"  (or maybe it says "UPDATE") next to the Soc Security field.   Clicking on Revisit simply took me back to Revisit.  A horrible, useless loop!   I then resorted to downloading the Desktop Version of the product, which is the version I've used in all prior years - so I had had pretty good experience with THAT interface.    I found the area for entering Social Security by hand - in the Step-by-Step process - and it didn't permit me to input anything there either!   Something to do with a Canadian Pension Fund question.  Anyway, I  ended up going to the Forms view, requested the SSA-1099 form - and it brought up a two column worksheet (one column for my values and one for my spouse's values).  I was able to put my numbers into that form, and the taxes seem to have been computed correctly now.
The IRS has released my tax refund but TurboTax hasn't

@ Michele-Baldwin  I'll assume you are filing as "single" since you didn't say otherwise.  Did you happen to file late in the year last year, such as after October?   If you have the actual 2024 return to look at, the AGI is on the 2024 Form 1040, Line 11. I know the IRS displays the 2024 AGI on one of the account pages, but did you also look at your 2024 tax return transcript while in your IRS online account?     In any case, the choices are limited.  If the actual 2024 AGI from your original 2024 return does not work, your next step would be to efile with an AGI of 0 (zero) to see if that works.
