However, if you do pay off the child's loan using your funds it can be considered a gift.  You can give up to $19,000 to anyone without any consequence, however, if you give more than that amount to anyone you will need to file a Form 709 Gift Tax Return.  If you are married, both you and your spouse could give up to $19,000 each to help paying off the loan without needing to file the Form 709.  If you do need to file the Form 709, there won't be any tax consequence, but the amounts you donate will be counted against the lifetime exemption limit of $15,000,000.

The fee for the "5 day early" refund is $35, so it seems unlikely that choosing that option suddenly cost you an extra $400.    Where are you seeing that amount?     How can I see my TurboTax  fees?  https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US?uid=m682vq7k   Did you already e-file?   If you have not e-filed, you can back out of that option by going back  through the FILE section.   If you already e-filed you are stuck with "5 days early" if the return is accepted.  If it rejects you can try to remove that option in the FILE section before you re-file.       "5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your federal refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site.   If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.   You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site. You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Specifics are as follows I have passive  foreign dividend income and foreign taxes coming thru on a 1099-DIV.  Total income is $602.73 and taxes paid are $62.93.  Based on these amounts and passive income only, form 1116 is not required. The information pulled from the brokerage downloaded correctly but I am not being credited for the foreign taxes being paid as the $62.93 should be in my total Federal refund and it is not.  I made a copy of my tax file and tried filling out form 1116 and the worksheet on the 2nd copy .  It did not make a difference as the foreign taxes still did not show in the totals.   Please advise if the TurboTax software can be corrected for this error?

It does not appear that we are going to be receiving any other tax documentation. A letter from the attorney stated that the enclosed 1099-S has been reported to the IRS and any questions would have to be submitted to a CPA. So it sounds like I need to reach out to see if I can obtain a K-1?
No, i was not a cosigner.

Did you have any capital gains?   Capital losses are first applied against capital gains and then up to $3,000 can be used to offset all other income. Any amount in excess of the $3,000 is carried forward to the following tax year.   If you had no capital gains, then you could only use $3,000 of losses reported to you on your K-1 to offset any other income. The rest will be carried forward.

Merci
If your name was on that loan as a co-signer, paying it off was not a gift.   You just paid off a loan that you were already legally obligated to pay if your child defaulted.
