Specifics are as follows I have passive  foreign dividend income and foreign taxes coming thru on a 1099-DIV.  Total income is $602.73 and taxes paid are $62.93.  Based on these amounts and passive income only, form 1116 is not required. The information pulled from the brokerage downloaded correctly but I am not being credited for the foreign taxes being paid as the $62.93 should be in my total Federal refund and it is not.  I made a copy of my tax file and tried filling out form 1116 and the worksheet on the 2nd copy .  It did not make a difference as the foreign taxes still did not show in the totals.   Please advise if the TurboTax software can be corrected for this error?

It does not appear that we are going to be receiving any other tax documentation. A letter from the attorney stated that the enclosed 1099-S has been reported to the IRS and any questions would have to be submitted to a CPA. So it sounds like I need to reach out to see if I can obtain a K-1?
No, i was not a cosigner.

Did you have any capital gains?   Capital losses are first applied against capital gains and then up to $3,000 can be used to offset all other income. Any amount in excess of the $3,000 is carried forward to the following tax year.   If you had no capital gains, then you could only use $3,000 of losses reported to you on your K-1 to offset any other income. The rest will be carried forward.

Merci
If your name was on that loan as a co-signer, paying it off was not a gift.   You just paid off a loan that you were already legally obligated to pay if your child defaulted.

Turbo Tax seems to be using the IRS sales tax tables.  But when I use the IRS calculator, I get a larger deduction by over $250.  This is because I'm at the upper end of the table.  Is there a way to force Turbo Tax to calculate the sales tax deduction using the IRS calculator?  If so, how? Thanks

Yes, this is the expected behavior.   In order to make contributions to a Health Savings Account, you need to have High Deductible Health Plan Coverage.  TurboTax was considering these contributions to be taxable until you checked that you High Deductible Health Plan.  I used a mock return to confirm that the refund did increase when I checked that the taxpayer had an HDHP.

Here are a couple of possibilities that may have caused this.   If you live in a community property state (AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA, or WI) and filed as Married Filing Separately, TurboTax has a "Community Property" interview.   In these states, income and withholding are often split 50/50 between spouses, regardless of whose name is on the W-2. If you entered your spouse's withholding to "take" your half, or if you adjusted your own withholding up to match a 50/50 split, TurboTax puts that extra amount on Line 25c and labels it a "Positive Adjustment" on the background worksheet.  The IRS often flags this because they see a withholding amount that doesn't match any W-2 or 1099 attached to your Social Security number. The second possibility is if you entered information directly into the Tax Payments Worksheet in Forms Mode to add a missing payment or include a tax credit without its own field, it will appear as an "Adjustment. TurboTax uses this line to capture any withholding that isn’t automatically pulled from a W-2 or 1099..

This issue is still going on. I am on my fifth call to customer support, twice being hung up on before ever starting. They have no clue what to do they keep insisting its my card company when its already pre authorized through my credit card company. Spoke to one representative who stated that billing could assist me, no one would even let me speak to billing.
