The best way to enter a foreign pension in TurboTax, is to enter as MISCELLANEOUS INCOME. Because most foreign pensions so not have a tax ID number, you will not be able to efile if you try to enter it with a 1099-R entry.
In TurboTax:
In the program, from the left side menu, select Federal.
Select the Wages & Income.
Scroll down to Less Common Income (very last section on the screen) and show more.
Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C and Start or Revisit.
On the next screen, scroll down to Other income not already reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099 and select Start to enter your foreign pension information.
NOTE: Some states have pensions exclusions and if you use this entry, you will have to make sure you make the adjustment in the state section. Please post with your specific state if you encounter this.
