Don't enter your Explanation Statement directly on Form 5329.  Enter it in the interview and it will transfer to the 5329.  EDIT your RMD entry, continue through the questions, and enter your explanation.  The box allows an entry that scrolls out of the box area.  You'll get a screen verifying you completed your waiver request.   Flip into FORMS and your explanation statement will show up.    @m1t20rw

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.    You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed. This means waiting until the payment submitted with the tax return has been processed, or your refund has been received.  You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.  Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.   The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due  Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.  You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment  Amend TurboTax CD/Download

In general, a plan that meets the minimum annual deductible and maximum annual deductible and other out-of-pocket expense requirements is a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan. Those limits are: $1,650 individual/$3,300 family in 2025; $1,700/$3,400 in 2026 and maximum out-of-pocket limits of $8,300 individual/$16,600 per family in 2025.    A Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) that is ACA-compliant and sold in the individual or small-group market must cover all 10 essential health benefits (EHBs).  Plans that are "grandfathered" (in existence before the ACA) or large employer plans may not have to cover all 10 categories, although they often do.    You can always call the Insurance company and ask them if a plan is a qualified HDHP.

This solution doesn't work for the 2025 tax return.  I noticed that when I get to the "Do any of these situations apply to you?" screen and click on "I inherited this IRA", it doubles the RMD in the forms.  The only fix I've found is to NOT click on this answer, and in fact, not click on anything.   That fix gets me to the correct taxable amount for the RMD.   This seems like a software fix is required.  If anyone has a better solution, please share!  Thanks.

There is no option because Washington state does not levy an income tax.  See this TurboTax Help.

@ bsuther wrote:  Can’t download or get a copy of tax docs How do I save or get a copy of my completed tax forms   Please define what "completed' means.  Are you asking how to get a copy of a tax return you already filed?  Did you recently efile, and if so, is the status still "pending?"     Or are you asking how to view/print a copy of an unfiled return prior to filing?   If you already filed, we can even tell you how to get various size PDFs including worksheets if your efile return has been "accepted."   Or if you haven't filed yet, and if you are using a paid edition, how to pay in advance to see the additional PDFs. But first we have to understand your situation better, as well as whether you are using Free Edition or a paid edition.

As a 24 year service member, you qualify for 100% exemption from income. I created a senior return and entered military retirement to double check the program is working and I got through review with the subtraction. I did not try to e-file - obviously. Follow these steps: Open to your NC return Enter 100% of your military income when asked.   Please review your state entries and be sure the military income is holding in the box where it is entered. You will see a screen that says Here's the income that North Carolina handles differently - US Uniformed Services Retirement Benefits should be in a blue box with the number you entered. Flip to your actual forms and worksheets. Check your Retire Ben Wks to see if the form is correct  To print or view  your forms, including all worksheets: In desktop, switch to Forms Mode.  For online: On the left side, select  Tax Tools Select Print center Select Print, save or preview this year's return If you have not paid, select pay now. Thank you for your service.    If all of this fails,  contact support.  For others: From Learn More: Do I qualify for this deduction? The following retirement payments received by a retired member of the United States Uniformed Services that are included in federal income are allowed a deduction on your North Carolina tax return: * Uniformed Service retirement payments received by a retired member who served at least 20 years in the Uniformed Service or who was medically retired from the Uniformed Service  * Payments from the Survivor Benefit Plan to a beneficiary of a retired member who served at least 20 years in the Uniformed Service or who was medically retired from the Uniformed Service.

@WinstonTitus wrote: Attempting to import last year's tax return but TurboTax will not do it. Found the correct file, selected it, but Continue doesn't work.   Are you using a Mac?   This is a 6-page thread of many Mac users with this issue. Many have stated what worked for them. Read through it, and you'll see several ways users have resolved it. It would probably be best to look through the comments in reverse order, since the later ones have more info on how to do the workarounds than the early responses before it became more clear.
I've been wondering what the reasons are to move to the cloud version when the desktop version has worked well for me for many years.
Thank you, MaryK4.... It sounds like I shouldn't worry about this unless I hear from WV that there is a problem.
