Thank you for your reply.  And sorry for the confusion.  I meant to say that the only out-of-pocket expense was the total premium my wife paid for Medicare and that was $1600.  So I will enter that in the box on the "Medical Expenses" page, as you instructed.  Thanks again.

Thank you, I've already contacted TurboTax and we figured it out: software purchased through Costco appears to have this problem. The software purchased from Intuit directly does not have this automated Audit Defense charge.

When you prepare your tax return, make sure that in MY INFO you enter your current mailing address so that the IRS and your state have it---they need the correct address in case they need to mail you a letter or a check.   You can also update your TT account: UPDATE MY ACCOUNT https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/account-updates/help/how-do-i-update-my-turbotax-account-information/00/25927  

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.    You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.  You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.  Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.   The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due  Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.  You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment  Select your product below and follow the instructions.  Amend TurboTax Online  Amend TurboTax CD/Download
