No, Intuit has not officially stopped offering desktop software discounts, but the manner in which they are distributed has become significantly less predictable.  While it appears that everything is becoming more expensive, we do still offer various promotions from time to time. If you don't see one in your inbox, the best place to look for a discount is at major retail stores. They frequently lower them to remain competitive with one another.   Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Does the time the home was owned and fact that it was once primary residence reduce capital gains at all.     No.  If you have not lived in and owned the home for at least two years in the five year period on the date of sale, you are not eligible for the home sale exemption.  The sale is reported as an investment sale and any gain on the sale it taxed as capital gains.

Turbotax Desktop: 1) I believe I saw somewhere that when entering Non Covered Long Term Investments, no adjustments on Form 8949 that 0 (zero) needs to be entered in column "g" in order for TT to accept.  Is that true? 2) If above is true are there any other entries NOT included in instructions ( or tips)that need to be addressed when entering investments on Form 8949?

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   If you e-filed your tax return using online editions there will be an Electronic Postmark Report included with the PDF download.  It will show the date/time the tax return was e-filed and the date it Accepted by the IRS, if Accepted.   To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/ Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)   If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.   If you filed the 2021 tax return and it was accepted by the IRS, there will be a 2021 transcript available. Go to this IRS website for free transcripts of a federal tax return - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript   Go to this IRS website to sign on to your IRS account which will have a list of your filings, payments and refunds - https://www.irs.gov/payments/online-account-for-individuals

I think you need a copy of your tax returns.  If you didn't get the Stimulus checks,  the Recovery Rebate Credit will be on 1040 line 30.   How to Access prior year online returns https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/00/27010 If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2025 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2025. I had to go though about 12 screens. If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups. Or request a transcript from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Or get a copy of your return using form 4506 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

You can deduct the expenses paid that are usual and customary for your business. If you have no documentation like a receipt those expenses might be disallowed if audited. If you paid with your own art work you can only claim the cost of your supplies and not your labor. If a valued art work by someone else you would have to have it appraised to establish its value. In addition you are bartering which has its own tax implications.

I aam using TT Premium on Mac OS. On this entry on the 2025 tax Summary page it says "Avaiable Now" What does this mean? I clicked on update and it has entered the correct amount for my state and I answer the questions. When I finish it takes me back to the tax summary page which still says 'avaiable now" and does not show the entry.
