The TurboTax desktop editions, installed on a personal computer, include all the same schedules and forms so that you can use the TurboTax Deluxe edition to report the home sale.   If you were using the TurboTax online editions for 2025, the Premium online edition would be required to report the home sale.

A TurboTax rep told me a number of months ago that I needed to us Premier to report the sale of inherited property. Recently, a different TurboTax rep told me that I can use Deluxe to report the sale of inherited property because I use the desktop version. She told me that I'd only need to use Premier if I used the online version of TurboTax. Who is correct?

I'm a salary employee.  I do get paid overtime for working holidays.  Does that qualify as overtime to be not taxed 2025?  My employer did not report it separate on mt W2. Thanks

> saying since release that it's not going to be available until "February maybe sooner"   I know you have been following this whole thread, so it puzzles me that you and some others are missing the whole point. This isn't about when the forms are approved for filing, as the IRS is the gating factor there and filing isn't even open yet. So, let's put aside the Forms Availability Tool which is a list of forms that would be filed by the taxpayer with the IRS, and when they can be filed. As far as I can tell, TT has made no information available about the software handling 1099s. Where did you get that information about TT saying February for 1099-B?   It is about a dramatic difference between TT 2025 and all previous years since the 1990s in having software sufficient for year-end planning with preliminary step-by-step and forms, with some exceptions that affect a small number of taxpayers. No one can say that 1099-B and qualified retirement account distributions are limited to a small number. Intuit has offered no explanation for this as far as I can tell.   I also find responses such as just use Dinkytown also missing the point. Yeah, we get that we are having to do that this year even two months after purchasing TurboTax. We shouldn't have to, though. TurboTax is supposed to provide more guidance through non-trivial tax situations than online calculators and spreadsheets can do. This year, it has been a failure at that.

I understand we need patience.  But im counting on that money.  Can you give me any kind of time frame as to when this will be available?  It was signed into law on the 4 of July.  That was six months ago.  I dont know what it takes to update your software for this but 6 months seems like alot of time.

There is a special rule in the case of divorced & separated (including never married) parents. When the non-custodial parent is claiming the child as a dependent/exemption/child tax credit; the custodial parent is still allowed to claim the same child for Earned Income Credit, Head of Household filing status, and day care credit. The court order does not change this. This "splitting of the child" is not available to parents who lived together at any time during the last 6 months of the year; then only one of you can claim the child for any tax reasons. The tax benefits may not be split in any other manner. Note in particular that the non-custodial parent can never claim the Earned Income Credit, Head of Household filing status or the day care credit, based on that child, even when the custodial parent, or a court order, has released the dependency to him.  So, it's a good idea to let the other parent know that you will be claiming those items, as many first time divorced parents are not aware of this rule and may try to claim those items, which will cause the IRS to send out letters.  Ref: https://www.irs.gov/publications/p17#en_US_2017_publink1000170897 Scroll down to "Children of divorced or separated parents (or parents who live apart)" You can if you are the custodial parent.  The custodial  parent is the parent the child lived with for more than 183 nights in 2024 (more than 182 nights  in 2023).

The file that was reinstalled was "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) - 14.44.35211".  That is all my feeble mind knows.

I have desktop versions of TT Home & Business (for my personal taxes) and TT Business (for my S-corp).  Within the business product I created W-2s and 1099s for the S-corp.  Now those forms are only showing when I open the Home & Business TT.  I saved these tax files in completely different directories.  How can I disconnect the S-corp forms from my personal H&B and connect them to TT Business?
