I do not know if your computer's memory problem is solvable 2GB is like an absolute minimum for even older computers.
****************
the steps below are to see if your issue is solvable. it may not be. on my computer with just the basics along with Turbotax running, I'm using almost 5GB of the 16GB installed.
*****************************************
Evidently you trying to use the desktop version or install it. what are you trying to do and what error message do you get?
************************
do not reset the computer you may lose important data and apps. resetting puts in back to the state it was originally in when shipped from the factory.
**************************
what operating system because IE 11 is no longer supported in windows 10. the default browser is Edge which can use a lot of memory. Turbotax 2024 requires windows 10 64 bit?
*********************************
shut down your computer wait a few seconds and then restart (use shutdown not restart). do not open Turbotax. This will clear memory of unnecessary programs that stay there even when you end them
****************************************
reopen task manager and go to the performance tab, there are two numbers under memory with a %
like xx/xx GB %
what are these numbers?
**************************************
go to the processes tab
what % is showing in memory column?
******************************************************
click on the memory column until the highest number appears (this sorts the column into either the highest number or lowest numbers)
what are the first 3 apps with the highest number of memory usage and what are their names and what is the memory usage?
***************************************

You may or may not be in the wrong account as compared to the past returns. Many people end up with multiple accounts without realizing it. In any case, the following info will tell you how to normally find past Online returns, and if necessary, how to look for multiple accounts. Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account. The pathway to download the PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2024 return. I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation. If you have not yet started a 2024 online return: Sign in to your account. What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2024 return in that account. If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2024 return in that account. If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions. Answer those preliminary questions on a few screens (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process, the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option in the left menu column. Do not click the Documents tab. Instead, click on Tax Home. Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents". Expand that section and choose the past year you want. If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot. If you have already started or finished a 2024 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2024 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home. If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu. Do not use the Documents tab. At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents" and choose the year you want. If the past returns are not there, see the steps below. If you do all that and can't find the past return, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes. A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be. It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all. To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below. When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it. After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop. Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below. You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access, here's another method: Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

@Mike9241 Hello Mike, now I closed all the tasks. The task manager is empty. It shows 1.8-1.9 GB free of 2GB full. But it still shows “4GB” and “click OK” to close. What other methods could I try? Thank you so much for your help. PS, in the background tap, there are Windows security and some IE apps running for around 20 MB. Do I need to force to close some system tasks? Or may I reset into the factory setup?

@Mike9241 Thanks a lot for the link. Yes, “4GB or more recommended”. Now I am only running my IE 11. I will clean the tasks and install again.

check task manager. start typing task into the windows 10 search box to see what using your memory. you can stop unwanted tasks.
your other options are online or to upgrade memory (not always possible)

QBI is a weird animal. if you have net QBI losses and dispose of the entity, that loss carryforward doesn't go away unless they change the tax losses. it exists until used

option 2 works by entering in the disposition section 0 as sales price, basis, and ordinary gain. the 751 recapture is reported entirely on the ET k-1. for the 1099-B you only report the sale of ET using the sales schedule to figure basis.
option 3 also works but I think option 2 is simpler because there is no need to move the suspended info from the ETP k-1 to the ET k-1

@jjdawdy21 thanks for that info, it validates my plan to just use my current "TurboTax dedicated" Windows 10 VM under Linux if/when that becomes necessary.

This is a problem. You cannot file it as self-employment income if you're getting a K-1 from an estate or trust. It should be reported on Sch F by the estate or trust and that flows through to box 6 on your K-1. Then you report it on Sch E as ordinary income but not subject to self-employment tax. The trust or estate may "materially participate" but not you because you're a beneficiary. The upside is you don't have to pay self-employment tax on the income.

Virtualbox 7.x will support TPM emulation required for Win 11. I can't speak for llondel but I use windows for ONLY ONE application and that is Turbotax and I currently run it in a Virtualbox Vm with a Win10 guest. Buying and "maintaining" an OS I have no other use for(and hate) is outrageous to me. P.S. Linux now supports Flatbpaks which isolates the app from OS dependencies/updates that could cause conflicts and failures. In short there is no "technical " reason to not support Linux anymore.

If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2023 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

I am one heir amongst others to a farm. I received a K-1 (1041). I very much, materially participated in the farming activities. I want to report these farming activities as a "self employed." I found this, "If you materially participated in a farm business and received a Schedule K-1 (Form 1041) from an estate or trust, you must report your star of the income on Schedule F (Form 1040)." Am I not also suppose to report this on Sch E, pt2? When I do both of these, it doubles my farm income. My job is this farm. Just so happens that I am compensated through a 1041 K-1. I need to file this as self-employed income for health policy and investment reasons. Thank you
