If you have not yet actually filed, you can make changes.  Here's how to reopen your return interview to edit anything.     Log in and at the Tax Home look for a link "Add a State."   That doesn't really add one, but will reopen the interview.

The desktop software normally comes out first.   Online TurboTax has typically opened the last of November or first week of December.   Be aware that even when it does open up online, some forms and modules will not yet be finalized (especially with all the tax law changes this year).  So at first it will be a very preliminary program that will receive quite a few updates in the weeks afterwards.   I would NOT be in a rush to file a 2025 return in January.  Returns filed early on can have a higher chance of having processing problems or requiring an amended return later on.   And if you efile before the IRS officially opens its efile season, it would just sit on TurboTax servers until the IRS opens, and you would be unable to make any changes if you discover something wrong or missing.   But it's OK to start using the Online program when it opens, but just remember that you should review and revise things as needed later as the program "evolves," since the calculations can change as the new forms are added to the program.    Plus the state forms always lag behind.

If person A has a DCFSA but does not claim a qualifying dependent on their tax return, the amount will be added back to their taxable income.  There is no additional penalty for this situation and the add-back will be done automatically by Turbotax.   If person B claims a qualifying dependent and files as single or HOH, person B can have a DCFSA of up to $5000.  The issue is whether your employer will allow you to change the amount (they probably won't or can't allow it unless you are still within the 60 day eligible window from a qualifying life event).    If your income is more than $15,000, you could never allow your unmarried partner to claim your biological child as a dependent, even if you wanted to.     There is no issue with FICA.

Here's one way to get to the 1099-R interview:   With your return interview open, go to the left menu column and choose the tab TAX TOOLS, then when it expands, choose its subtab TOOLS. In the Tools window choose the blue button Topic Search. In the search line enter the term 1099-R without quotes. You should see 1099-R in the selection results list.   Select it and click GO  (or double-click it). Next screen:  "Did you get a 1099-R in 2024?"

ADDENDUM: @ Priller  wrote:  "although I filed my 2023 federal income tax return by MAIL back in April of 2025."   I just noticed you typed "April 2025".   Was that a typo, or did you file your 2023 return a year late?   Or did you mean to type instead "April 2024" and mistyped?   We can't always explain why a spouse AGI may not be in the IRS database it's using for 2024 efiled returns.  It may or may not have anything to do with the fact that you mailed your 2023 return last year, but it could be the reason.   But in any case, try using spouse AGI of 0 as I discussed above, which is the usual solution for this kind of situation as you saw above at the link for another user who had the same situation recently.

@ Priller wrote: Submitted my 2024 federal income tax return (married, filing jointly). I provided the 2023 AGI from line 11, Form 1040 (same for taxpayer and spouse, right?) Also, provided signature PIN's (for taxpayer and spouse used in 2022 e-file) - although I filed my 2023 federal income tax return by MAIL back in April of 2025.   I just checked the IRS database by logging into my Personal IRS account and it seems the 2023 AGI matches the one in the 2023 Income Tax Form copy we kept for our records.   My wife just checked the IRS database by logging into her Personal IRS account and it seems the 2023 AGI matches the one in the 2023 Income Tax Form copy we kept for our records as well.   This is the error code I received:   IND-032-04 - 'SpousePriorYearPIN' or 'SpousePriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database.   Also, Turbotax says that "The IRS Couldn't Confirm" my wife's identity - Asking to enter 2023 AGI...   A bit confusing since both my signature PIN and AGI entry worked for me? but the wife's entries did not work.   Should I try to enter 0 for AGI for the wife and or delete the signature PIN we used in the 2022 e-file since we filed our 2023 income tax return by MAIL?   As for the 5-digit Signature PIN, you can use any 5 digits that you want to (and the screen says you can use any 5 digits of your choosing except not all zeros.)   You can't leave the signature PIN blank.  That's how you are signing your 2024 return.    It doesn't have to be one that you used before, but it's OK to reuse one, since you can use any 5 digits you want.   The reason it's rejecting is most likely the Spouse AGI, not a signature PIN.   Yes, I would retry by using the total 2023 AGI for you, and for the spouse, use a 2023 AGI of 0.   The IRS has many databases.  The efile database is separate from what you see in your IRS account.  It's not uncommon for the spouse not to be in the efile database that the IRS is using to verify for 2024, especially if you filed late in the year last year.   This problem is very commonly solved by using an AGI of 0 for the spouse.   At the link below here's another user who had this very same problem yesterday, and he reported back that the spouse AGI of 0 worked for him.   See that discussion here: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/ind-032-04-spouseprioryearpin-or-spouseprioryearagiamt/00/3703440   If you get another rejection, please report back with the rejection error code.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst

Hi HAL_AI, Thank you so much for the information you provided. I contacted my HR, and they will stop withholding the NY SDL and NY PFL taxes. I will handle the NY State tax when I file my tax return. Can TurboTax file multiple state returns—in my case, NY (non-resident) and Ohio (resident)? When I file the NY non-resident return, will TurboTax automatically calculate and provide a refund for the New York State tax my employer withheld? Just wondering how this works in TurboTax. Thank you!
will online tax for tax year 2025 be available soon?

@asharkawi007 , lauding my colleague @xmasbaby0  for her informative answer to your question and wanting to add : (a) assuming that you are a US person ( citizen/GreenCard), you still file form 1040  recognizing/ reporting your world income; (b) If you meet  the physical test ( 330 days away from the USA in a continuous 12 month test period), you can exclude your foreign earnings from US taxes ( Foreign Earned Income Exclusion) -- of course you have to file to claim the exclusion. Earned income includes wages and/or self-employment and/or sole proprietorship. (c) Passive income and any  earned income not excluded  is eligible for foreign tax credit ( if applicable ). (d) Note that you are still subject  to FICA/SECA taxes  and  FBAR ( form 114 at FinCen.gov ) and FATCA ( form 8938 along with your return). If the above situations apply to you , I would suggest using a higher level of TurboTax ( premier   or Home & Business is suggested).   Is there more one of us can do for you ?
